Java worked on MakeMKV until it didn't. (Mac OS)

Post by CoffeeDrinker »

Hey, so awhile back I installed Java. MakeMKV seemed to pick it up, and it was so nice. After all of these years using the software, being able to identify things like which one is the main feature was very handy. However, I don't seem to be able to find it now. Is there a work around? If it's something that needs to be done with the command line, please walk me through it, since I don't use the command line much at all.

I'm not sure why it stopped working after my first session.

are you asking why discs that previously worked to identify things no longer work to do that, or that news discs aren't showing it when older discs did? It wasn't universal in the past, it was specific to how many discs were authored.

So I haven't tried re-ripping discs, but I'm pretty sure after installing Java, it was the first time I saw MakeMKV identify "Main Feature" alongside a file. I can usually guess what it is by the file size, but that was a new tool. Every disc I've ripped since I installed Java has not identified the main feature.

As I understand it not every (perhaps even not most) discs are authored in such a way as to make Java useful for identifying the contents of discs.

My setup is configured to use Java and it works with some and not with others.
