Will I be able to Rip a Blu-ray from another Region?

Post by Linkone2 »

Okay, so, I bought an ASUS BW-16D1X-U a while ago, flashed it earlier this year with a FW I found on the Forums for 4k Discs, when in MakeMKV the drive says "DVD all regions: Yes", but are Blu-ray Discs included in that All Region bit, or is it just DVDs? Just want to know because I found a decent Deal on Amazon for a Limited Edition Anime Set, that I want to get, IF the Region B/2 Blu-rays can be ripped that is, but as far as I know, Region Formatting is a HW and FW thing. So, I just want to know if I'm good to buy it, or if I should look for a different one, y'know?

dvd and BD encodings are different; with BDs, they assume the player is smart enough to simply not show the content if the language is "wrong". MakeMKV doesn't care.

So, yes, you can read all regions on BDs. I've done US, Japanese, and European without having to do anything special.
