Yeah.. I was issued a refund (that I didn't ask for) and I was willing to wait. Seems a bit sketch, but a friend said it's common for vendors (Paypro Global) to just issue refunds in this case to protect their rating. I have no idea about that, but I wish this would get sorted. I really wanted a key.

Oh well, suppose we wait now. Nothing for us to do.

I asked PayPro for a refund after purchasing a key on Friday and not receiving it.
They CCed me on an email to support@makemkv.com asking them to deal with it.
If they were responding to emails I wouldn't be asking for a refund.
Has anyone else successfully got their money back?
24 hours later I received another email saying my refund is being processed.

I’m sorry, but as a customer service and retail manager for nearly 17 years, empathy has its limits. I have used this program for years and now I cannot. I paid for a service with my own money and received nothing in return.

Empathy is not deserved for poor business management, and this is reflective of poor management practices damaging to a product’s reputation. As I said, I hope the developer is well, but he’s not my personal friend, he is providing a digital goods and software service that as of today he has abandoned.

Subsequently, I am abandoning the software due to a poor customer experience.

As I said in my post that the mods will not publish, this is not how to run a business and this is why you appoint an agent to operate and manage the software if you are incapacitated or unavailable. A pity, because it's a fine product. I just had 88 CAD refunded to me after three days of silence from the dev. That's quite a bit of money to me.
Keep in mind that under normal circumstances, from what I can tell he does. Based on the comments from others here, as well as comments from Mike in the past when this has happened (only once as far as I can tell), typically PayProGlobal usually has a stock of keys that they can send when people purchase one. It appears like Mike typically sends them batches of keys as they get low, thus there's usually no problem. Once before, there was an issue where it appears that PayProGlobal ran out of keys and didn't tell Mike or something because Mike seemed rather annoyed by the fact that they were suddenly telling people purchasing keys "hey, go email the vendor about this" and said something to the effect of "this shouldn't have happen and they shouldn't be telling people that". It seems as though whatever happened the last time was non-standard under normal circumstances.

As many people have said, what seemed to have occurred over the past couple days is very much out of character for Mike which likely means he's dealing with something personally that has suddenly required his full attention away from the upkeep here, and the timing of PayProGlobal running out of keys is likely just horrible timing coinciding with Mike being unable to respond as quickly as he typically would.

Ultimately, this is a product that is owned and developed by a single person and has been run as such smoothly for many years now. Give the guy a break and be patient. I'm sure that when he's able, he will be back, he will see to this mess just like the last time, and will likely try to do something to avoid it happening again in the future. Until then, give the guy a bit of slack as he's just as human as the rest of us.
You say you had a bad customer service experience, but also acknowledge that you used this program for free for years and only even tried to become a customer when this issue arose. In another post you indicated this was the best program available for a use you consider essential for your work, and yet at no point in the years that you've relied on it did you purchase a key that would avoid the interruption you're currently facing.

I don't fault you for that, I too used it for some time without paying until I finally bought a key early last year, but the same reason you have been able to use the product for years without purchase is the same reason that it is now currently unavailable. It's not a polished product from a business entity, it's more of a hobby project from an individual. With that you get the good (available for free use for well over a decade) and the bad (if the developer is unavailable for any length of time, the product eventually becomes unusable).
