Hey Mike,

I have been using 'MakeMKV' for free for so many years. So I purchased a license on Aug 1st because one: I didn't want to wait for the 'free' key to be updated, and two: I have gotten so much use out of the product for free that I felt I owed it to you brother. I feel a bit ashamed that I hadn't purchased it a long time ago.

I am sorry to say, I too am one of the folks that ordered at the wrong time. I assume that all of us purchased the license and there was a SNAFU in the automated delivery system.

I have sent an email to 'support@makemkv.com' like the email states from PayPro Global suggests. I haven't heard anything yet.

More than anything, I just hope your doing alright Mike and everything is OK. I often worry in a one-man operation that something bad may have happened.

You've clearly created a tool that everyone appreciates, just look at all the people upset when it's not immediately available.

I know so many people are up-in-arms over not receiving their license key immediately but I grew up in the days before the internet and sometimes it took many weeks to receive a software key or disks. I have waited before and I can wait again. 8)

For all the people that are losing their $#!t over this delay I just want to say, Mike didn't have to make 'MakeMKV' available and fully functional for free. He could have put some limits on how many free rips I could do per free license, but he didn't and if it takes a few weeks (I hope not) to get my paid license, just like in the old days, then so be it.

Just want to say I appreciate you brother.

It is summer time so he could be on holiday or break, I understand communication could be great but he could be somewhere with no internet access to update us all. For the meantime just set your OS time to July and the program will work fully. I've personally set up a virtual machine to do that while Mike comes back.

I'm the same boat as everybody else in this thread. Decided to pay for MakeMKV instead of using the temp key that gets renewed every month (at Mike's leisure). Paid for it on Aug 1, here it is Aug 5 and I still haven't received my key. Sent the email to the indicated address shortly after getting the email from PayproGlobal with the instructions.

Hopefully Mike makes his rounds and sends out keys to everybody that paid him.

Seriously people, stop being so self-important.
The world does not revolve around you & your desires or impatience.
You bought a key and didn't get it immediately?
And are not being responded to in the time-frame you want?
As others said, MakeMKV is a 1-man operation, which he was not obligated to create, or more to release it fully functional for free.
You have no idea why Mike is not responding.
He could be dead.
Heart attack?
Traffic accident?
But none of you are showing concern for him being unresponsive, only selfishness for you not immediately getting your license keys.
That really speaks volumes as to who all of you are, and this is why I hate people.

Several posts here are worried about his well being. While I agree those who are mad about no new beta key truly aren't owed anything, I don't think it is unacceptable for those who paid to be upset. It's generally not expected in the industry that you have to wait for an undisclosed number of days before receiving digital products, regardless of how you personally feel about it. This product has existed for more than enough time for the author to find ways to make himself not a critical component in its use and distribution.

I truly hope nothing bad has happened to him and that he's just on holiday. Whenever he does return, I hope he sees this as a wake up call that he needs to do something to reduce his bus factor if he wants to keep his business in good shape. Apparently this situation has already happened several times.

Regardless, I'll definitely be buying a license as soon as things are up and running again, haha

I completely agree with this, but everything I said also stands.
If it was me selling (insert product), I would definitely want issues like this prevented.
And they can be prevented, however not necessarily as easy as said.
For example, to shift the task of generating keys to some other entity (person or company), for example directly to PayPro (which is probably not a task a payment processor would do), requires trust in that entity.
That could very easily be abused.
For example, if Mike generates keys & distributes them, he knows exactly what he should be paid for the number of keys.
If he offloads that to Other Entity, then Other Entity could sell more keys than they report to him and not pay him what he should be.
This could be true regardless of who the other entity is, be it his family or some business he works with or whatever.
Perhaps he was betrayed too many times before to be willing to trust that sort of thing now (purely a possibility, not saying that is him).
And when you add we really know nothing of how much he is earning from MakeMKV sells so cannot begin to guess if it pays his bills....
Reality is we are dealing with a 1-man show, not a business entity with multiple or many employees which would almost certainly have backups & preventives for these issues.
Yes, almost certainly, because I worked for companies before which had no concept of preventing problems and I was fired by them when the issue I warned them of occurred and my boss realized I was the only person who knew it was ultimately his/her fault.

That said, yeah, it would be preferable to me also if Mike would prevent this issue, especially considering we are all human and not immortal so Mike shall at some time disappear forever.
If he enables a fix for this issue, he can allow MakeMKV to be sold after he is gone and the profits to go where he wants.

I'm pretty understanding but the lack of an announcement "I'm on vacay, I'll fix it next monday" "Family emergency, don't know when I can get back, sorry guys," literally anything would be nice so we can just put it in a box for later. No word just leaves the forum to froth. It's just how this kind of thing goes.

Same here. The email from PayPro Global reads:
The associated license keys for your purchased product(s) are as follows:
Licensed to: [redacted]
For MakeMKV license key please contact vendor directly at support@makemkv.com

I emailed support@makemkv.com two days ago, but still nothing.
I got a notification of (an unsolicited) refund from the payment processor this morning.

This is not a good sign. I am amongst those that has been using this software so long I thought it about time I paid for it. The order link has been broken for the last few days.
Ultimately I hope Mike is ok.

According to a Redditor who claims to have spoken to him personally, Mike is fine, and has been notified of the problem, so with a little luck we'll get new keys within a few days.
