MakeMKV License Retrieval Delay
MakeMKV License Retrieval Delay
To Whom It May Concern:
I purchased a MakeMKV license today and received numerous emails from PayPro Global, the financial handler of this transaction. But, nowhere in these emails did it provide me with my License # or a link to retrieve it. Instead, one of the PayPro Global emails instructed me to contact the vendor at support@makemkv.com in order to request my License #. It has been over an hour since I emailed support@makemkv.com, which included my Order ID #, requesting my License #, and I have heard nothing back. I have checked my Spam box as well.
Please explain why paying customers have to follow such procedures to access what they purchased? And if there is a logical explanation, then why the delay in receiving it? Purchased many a software product in my day, and never had to go through a process like this.
Any comments that might help to address my concerns are welcome. Thanks.

Re: MakeMKV License Retrieval Delay
Based on other forum entries, Mike is the only one who makes new keys and we are at his mercy. I am in the same boat as you. Email sent.... and now we wait.....
Re: MakeMKV License Retrieval Delay
I am waiting on my key as well from support. It has been hours now.

I am also waiting. It is funny that the beta key not updating is supposed to be a gentle nudge to buy it, but buying it doesn't actually make you get it any faster!
I've used MakeMKV for years, it was about time I did it already. I very much appreciate all that Mike has done to provide people with the ability to make legal copies of their own discs.

My exact reason for investing in the product as well. This is probably the reason why we are a little surprised at the delay, based on the quality of the software itself.gunslingerfry wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 1:59 amI've used MakeMKV for years, it was about time I did it already. Hopefully, Mike is okay and it's a simple glitch in the system.

Same situation here. Purchased earlier today, followed up with email correspondence per the PayPro Global email. Not in a rush, patiently waiting.
Re: MakeMKV License Retrieval Delay
If the owner or creator of MakeMKV is involved in legal battle over copyright issues there might be a reason for a delay. But this too should have been mentioned on the MakeMKV website or this forum, because that might have implications for the continuity of this product.jb-76 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 3:30 amMy exact reason for investing in the product as well. I note that if you stop your computer using automatic time and adjust the date back to a valid date, this works, if you are desperate.
Please note this may give rise to update issues and some irregularities so be mindful to fix the date when you are done ripping.

Thanks for the tip.SteamIronUK wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 12:39 pmI note that if you stop your computer using automatic time and adjust the date back to a valid date, this works, if you are desperate.

If I don't receive a license key shortly I might try that.
But I think it's a bit strange that a new beta key has not been issued well (about two weeks) before the expiration date of the current beta license key.
Now users that are using the product using the beta key cannot use the product except maybe by using the tip above.
If enough users lose confidence in the continuity of the product, some might decide to look for an alternative and cause MakeMKV to lose potential paying customers.

Re: MakeMKV License Retrieval Delay
I submitted a support ticket with PayPro Global yesterday. They forwarded my concerns about the delay to the vendor and requested that I contact them again, in 24 hours, if I have not heard anything from the vendor. I contacted PayPro Global by phone, and they stated that the vendor had responded to them, explaining that they had run out of beta keys and were awaiting the acquisition of more.
Good to know that Mike is not in any kind of trouble, other than a shortage of beta keys. But I am surprised he has not commented here to address our concerns. Hopefully, this matter will be resolved soon.

Re: MakeMKV License Retrieval Delay
My only other concern is, after speaking with PayPro Global, why Mike is awaiting to provide me with a "beta" key?" I thought my purchase is for a "permanent key?"

I don’t know about copyright issues. This software has been around for years without legal problems.vtpeters wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 10:54 amIf the owner or creator of MakeMKV is involved in legal battle over copyright issues there might be a reason for a delay. Well, the UI of MakeMKV resembles one of the earliest dvd ripper programs a lot, from before AnyDVD or DVDFab. Also, MakeMKV is able to decrypt commercially available dvd's or blu-ray's, something that is prohibited in quite a few countries, which has forces several of those software manufacturers to close shop or relocate to a different country.smol_birb wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 6:34 pmI don’t know about copyright issues. But without any news from the creator(s) of MakeMKV we simply don't know what's going on.
Re: MakeMKV License Retrieval Delay
Here’s a link to the MakeMKV subreddit post from someone who has also noted the same problem. One of the sub’s mods has said that he spoke to Mike (the developer) this week, so it’s probably not a legal issue or anything like that. The general consensus seems to be that people will wait until Monday to see if they hear back from support.vtpeters wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 9:42 pmWell, the UI of MakeMKV resembles one of the earliest dvd ripper programs a lot, from before AnyDVD or DVDFab.
