[Bug Report][1.17.9] FFMPEG Rip errors "No restart header present in substream 0." even on previously ripped discs

Post by Bpendragon »

Same Error as here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=32918

But with 100% consistency (in my testing) even on discs previously ripped with a FLAC profile. The only difference (as far as I'm aware) is the different version of MakeMKV. This indicates to me an issue or change with MakeMKV and/or the included version of FFMPEG.

Rip Log, this exact disc was previously ripped successfully with the same settings (including filenames) On 2024-09-28 (MakeMKV Version 1.17.7), I went straight from .7 to .9, so I don't have an intermediate comparison:

This is just an example, I have tested several different releases including anime, western live action, and western animation from various publishers on discs released as recently as last month to as old as 2018 with extremely consistent results.

The workaround in the thread linked at the very top of this post, just using a default profile and then using another program to convert the audio streams to FLAC after the fact, still works fine. But since this behavior is both unexpected and completely consistent in my testing I thought it prudent to raise a bug report.

Leaving the filenames as their default values results in the exact same outcome.
