So you mean with modern processors you can backup uhd disks you just can't play them with cyber link media software unless you back the up first?

Yes. Intel removed the hardware support necessary for official playback of 4K UHDs. However, MakeMKV can still rip them and once ripped, they can be played back with VLC or any number of playback software just fine.speedygonzo5 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 6:11 pmSo you mean with modern processors you can backup uhd disks you just can't play them with cyber link media software unless you back the up first?
In order to rip 4K UHDs, you need an optical drive that supports LibreDrive. The Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide as a list of drives that can work. Generally speaking, a Pioneer drive is considered the best these days but unfortunately you have to get one with older firmware; the current firmware on Pioneer drives does not work with MakeMKV. Pioneer firmware update February 2023
The best way to get a Pioneer drive with the right firmware is to buy one from a seller in your region.

You can do unofficial playback if you want but I would not recommend it.speedygonzo5 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 6:11 pmSo you mean with modern processors you can backup uhd disks you just can't play them with cyber link media software unless you back the up first?
If you meet the requirements 7th-10th gen Intel using onboard GPU.
Hdcp 2.2 display and a official UHD drive you can do official playback but half the time that don't work either for a long time the only way to pass the sgx test was to be on an older version windows 10 not sure if they fixed that now.
But also in the newest power DVD officially UHD is not supported anymore you would need an older version like the one included with drives
