update?

Post by paul2793 »

With all the new titles that aren't working, will there be a new MKV update?

hashed keys
do you have a message about hk download disabled or failed if all your UHD discs are not working thats more likely the cause and thats an issue with your isp dns
steps around that are
change dns
check firewall for geoblocking russia
use a VPN

The message I'm getting with the discs are. Volume key is unknown for this disc. Video can't be decrypted. Failed to open disc.

I used a VPN, and even turned off Firewalls.

well what discs,
full log output is good for us to see use the </> symbol
so no UHD discs work im still leaning towards your isp blocking key downloads

All UHD discs have worked fine until now. i was guessing a new protection was encoded on them. The discs are
Butcher Baker Nightnare Make UHD, American Sniper UHD, Navy Seals UHD, China O'Brien UHD

Tried to attach a screenshot but it's not working.
What do I need to do? I used VPN and turned off firewalls.

1 no new protection is being use stop the conspiracy theory stuff this have been said 1000 times before its never been the case.

2 i said put the text log in the code blocks just copy paste the text not a pic

all those are brand new releases some dont come till the 28th give it 2 weeks after you submit it and you should be good

High Noon UHD and American Sniper UHD do work now when they didnt before. Is that typically the problem? The disc have to be released and out there first?

I'm new to all of this and not very computer literate with this kind of stuff. So thank you for your patience with me.

d00zah pointed you to the Hashed Keys section of the UHD FAQ over in the American Sniper 4K thread.

The short, short version is UHD's are protected by a different, 'improved' version of the encryption scheme used on regular blu-rays. While MakeMKV can defeat the protection of regular blu-ray easily, defeating the scheme on UHDs requires MakeMKV to see the disc for the first time and create a dump file (the .tgz file people reference). People have to email that dump into MakeMKV (svq@makemkv.com). MakeMKV has to process that dump to create a 'hashed key' which MakeMKV makes available on a server. When you put a UHD into your drive, if you don't have the hashed key necessary, MakeMKV checks for the key on the aforementioned server. If it exists, MakeMKV downloads the key (and stores it locally forevermore) and lets you rip the disc. If the key doesn't exist, it creates the dump file (unless your system has already created a dump file) for you to send in.

Some titles are protected by a single key. Other titles, usually popular ones, are protected by multiple keys, which means the key needed to unlock your copy might be different than the key needed to unlock your neighbor's copy. As such, the ettiequte is to post the name of your dump file when you submit one. If your copy of the movie produces a dump file of the exact same name, then you don't have to submit your dump, although duplicate dump submissions don't hurt anything.

As a rule of thumb, the week or two between when the first dump is submitted and the hashed keys start to become available is the time when people lose their minds that they can't rip their UHD. There are often conspiracy theories and the gnashing of teeth. I find this amusing since people have a disc they can play in a player, or likely a regular blu-ray copy they can rip & watch, or likely a streamable version they can watch while they wait for the hashed key needed to be able to rip their 4K UHD movie.

China O'Brien and Navy Seals have been submitted. Shouldn't be too long now before the HK is updated to support those.
