Re: I have not received an activation key

Such a disaster.

Everyone who got the "thanks for your money, now get your key from makemkv.com" message should be all set now, please check your inboxes. Order page back online.

Beta key is updated as well.

Apologies, that was very wrong.

Re: Is Makemkv no longer updating AACS protection?

Of course, I didn't mean that MakeMKV does not update at all, maybe it was a poor choice of words on my part. But as dcoke22 mentioned (and was more precise) the newer AACS V78 does not seem to be cleared by MakeMKV YET. Every other new movie is greeted by the message that the disc uses newer prote...

Good to hear Mike. Will the downgrade functionality be part of Makemkv or is the separate utility needed?
Most likely both - it will be part of sdftool and also available as a separate utility.

Re: Pioneer firmware update February 2023

Some status update. Unfortunately, this is taking much longer than expected. One think to note is that downgrade is possible on any version of firmware, and at the very least you would be able to downgrade, even a new drive that came with locked firmware.

Re: Request: Keep Closed Captions in DVD video stream

There is no such option now, and you are the first person who asked for it. I'd have to think how to do it, as it leads to a lot of confusion - when CC from mpeg always show up...

Re: Request setting to disable DOH

@mike admin Any chance for an advanced setting to disable the applications use of DOH? DOH is blocked on my network. Thank you. Oh, no. I'd recommend finding a free/cheap proxy/vpn and set up MakeMKV to use it. The cheapest option is to install TOR client and set socks proxy in MakeMKV preferences.

Am toying with the idea of just getting another drive but if there is likely to be a breakthrough in the next couple of months I'll delay. Expensive mistake :|
It should be a matter of a week or two.

Pioneer firmware update February 2023

As many of you have noticed, Pioneer released a mass firmware update for almost all drives. The firmware date is around December 2022 and release date is around February 2023. The sole purpose of this update is to disable LibreDrive and unofficial firmware flashing tools such as DVRtool. This will e...

my Bitdefender antivirus informed that it was disinfecting
The file in question that is reported by bitdefender is actually not used on 64-bit systems (most of the systems today). So even if it "disinfects" that file, the installation will continue without an error on 64-bit system.

MakeMKV obviously creates TMP files in the user's app folder,
named MakeMKV-abcd-e.tmp (a, b, c, ... digits),
size from a few kB to few MB.
They are not deleted and use always more space.
That's a bug (regression) :(
Will be fixed in 1.17.4

Seeing the same issue with 1.17.3.
It was explicitly fixed :((((
Please send the dump again then. Is there any simple way to emulate RPI3 environment with qemu or something similar?

I've even added an explicit comment at vt - https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/043e41ff5c309ac4e393e1e40a791c58ea21f2421736cd8e9631944cba629f0e/community. The file itself is 13 kilobytes, it is a 32-bit service installer - literally, it calls few windows APIs and exits. You can't pack much malware ...
