To use libredrive outside makemkv you open makemkv open the disc in makemkv then close makemkv.
I have never tried it for getting around the aacs problem but that's how it works to get around buss encryption

Re: Help needed flashing a Buffalo BRXL-PT6U2VB-US drive
Hi Ross
See the guide below it should be a BU40N follow the firmware for that make sure you meet the requirements.
Or get an automated flasher from me or Marty that flashes it for you.

Re: ASUS BW-16D1HT
Oh… the person that I bought the drive from recommended that I flash my drives firmware to 3.01. but I guess I don’t have to. What do you mean by problem discs? do some 4K blu-rays just not rip sometimes using DVDfab to make an ISO? I Already own a copy of MakeMKV. so I could just make a BDMV backu...

Re: How do I downgrade the WH14NS40 for UHD disks?
"...NS60 1.00 is the way to go." In this folder: "mk-firmware-pack-20200720\MK\old" I'm not seeing "1.00" just 1.01 and 1.02 I want to try out 1.00 for burn speed testing and other software, just monkeying around. I'll scour the forum but thought someone might know whe...

Re: All my UHD discs rip failure
I tried to rip all my uhd discs with makemkv but none of them worked, I have sent the tgz files to svq@makemkv.com. I don’t think the makemkv server does not have the keys for these UHD discs, because in 2021, these UHD discs can be successfully ripped with makemkv, and these UHD discs include Harr...

Re: ASUS BW-16D1HT
The mk firmware does not work with dvdfab but does work with makemkv and anydvd. Billy, I would suggest that he crossflashes his drive to LG BH16NS60 1.00. This should work with all three softwares. Your opinion? sure that or WH16NS60 1.00 that firmware is more readily available. but they may then ...

Re: building a server with two opticals and I want to rip both simultaneously Processor speed needed?
You don't need alot of cpu power I can rip with six BU40Ns at 6X speed and CPU usage on an old Intel quad core is less than 10%.
The bottle neck in my case above 6 drives at once is the hdds it's writing to.
But only 2 drives that rip at a max of 4X almost any slow HDD will do.

Re: does the GPU play a role in ripping and streaming?
Gpu plays no part in ripping only playback if you plan to do that on a PC make sure it supports H.265 decoding and at least HDMI 2.0 to get HDR
Apple tv junk cant do Atmos correctly.
Plex can use GPUs to live transcode but you don't want that.
