I have had only one non-seeking video from the lot, so I do not know the difference; I used vlc each time. What this discourages is batch processing, for me anyway. How fun that would be to find n processesed un-seekable videos?

never issues with the makemkv setup file, and I use kaspersky set to deep scan. I have used kaspersky long before I discovered makemkv, so when I say never I mean numerous iterations have been scanned.

Actually, my work flow is to have MakeMKV extract all audio and subtitle tracks, period. No transcoding of audio. Then I use handbrake to process that.
