Re: Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit 4K (Finally!)
That's probably a good way to destroy your disk and your drive. Maybe try this instead. https://www.amazon.com/CD-Stomper-Pro-Labeling-System/dp/B00002SA8D FOTREXTDISC1.jpg Success!! I can't explain why it worked, but it worked. What I can tell you... This is FotR Extended Disc 1 where I could previ...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Is anyone else having issues with Plex playing Dolby Vision from their MKV's since the last ShieldTV update? I read that the Plex programmers are working with Nvidia to find out why the DV decoder keeps crashing, amongst other issues (colors). It almost seems like Nvidia has little interest in their...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
Still no Plex 8.8.0 available on Google Play for my Nvidia Shield TV yet. Their 'staged' rollout is a real pain with it being distributed randomly. It's almost as if they don't want people to update to the latest version. Hello, kinda new to this part of techno world coz I just bought some related d...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
Re-rip them all with the latest version of Makemkv. Having the Dolby Vision layer as a second separate video track in an MKV file has never been part of the MKV standard. Hi, I have lot of MKVs that I made in the past with MKVToolnix keeping Dolby Vision layer as a second track (in the hope it could...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
Yep, it's showing, but you have to open up one of the details panels to see it: Video ID : 1 ID in the original source medium : 4113 (0x1011) Format : HEVC Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding Format profile : Main 10@L5.1@High HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
All you need for Atmos is the "TrueHD" and the "DD" underneath it. Dolby Vision is kept by default, nothing you need to select or de-select. Also, if all you want is Dolby Atmos, instead of both Atmos and DTS, deselect the "DTS" tracks for a smaller file. thanks, pardon...

What's a recommended app for side loading APK's onto the Nvidia Shield TV, so I can run exoplayer under Kodi and watch my DV MKVs?

MrMC is a good Kodi variant.
Koying, of the SPMC Kodia variant fame, handles the android/Nvidia Shield TV versions.

Re: Catalina and Makemkv
Well, I did a upgraded a spare HD I have as a test. Makemkv was able to decrypt the TOC of a UHD disk and list out all the tracts to extract. so.. it seems to work. I didn't go as far as ripping anything to storage though.

Re: Catalina and Makemkv
OSX says it's a 64 bit kernel extension, but unsigned. wonder what's different about Catalina that would interfere? Kernel extensions have been depreciated, but they should still work...

Catalina and Makemkv
So, I'd really like to upgrade to OSX Catalina, but would rather not lose the ability to backup my UHD/Bluray media.
Can anyone confirm that Makemkv can rip UHD/Bluray disks running under Catalina?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Is it really creating a single layer DV from the dual layer DV track? If that is the case, the code for doing this available for anyone to use. Could be added into Makemkv, an option to create a single layer DV track. I don't really think it's doing that. The command line options seem to imply there...

Re: WANTED: Results of UHD Rips with Dolby Vision
That 1920x1080 'HDR' layer is the Dolby Vision Metadata. I don't know why folks say MKV doesn't support a separate DV track alongside the HDR track. I've taken a full disk rip (of my legally purchased Valerian UHD), and used MKVtoolnix to mux the HDR and DV tracks from the main .M2TS file together i...

Re: macOS 10.14 Mojave Compatibility
No SCSI errors here with Mojave, just a nice errorless copy.
