Hopefully MakeMKV's author, Mike, will see your post.
Out of curiosity, can you make a backup for the DVD disc in question?

Re: Aliens 4K (Ultimate Collector Edition)
Do you have a different drive you can try? Often when I have a disc that doesn't work in a drive I get different results with the same disc in a different drive.

Re: 'Save Selected Titles' button greyed out/not clickable
If you're on the first screen in MakeMKV and you have a disc in the drive, you have to click the big disc icon to get to the title selection screen where the 'Save Selected Titles' button will be active.

Re: Easy way to get titles in order on TV series...
In the United States, it is the Digital Millennium Copyright Act from 1998 that makes it illegal to break DRM regardless of wether you're infringing on copyright or not. CDs do not have DRM and it is perfectly legal to create a CDDB. DVDs, blu-rays, and UHDs all have DRM. Hosting something similar f...

Re: NLMeans too slow in Handbrake?? Try this!
NLMeans is a denoise filter in Handbrake. I almost never mess with that since I'm not opposed to film grain. Maybe I'm too old and/or my eyesight it too bad. :) When I think about getting to a smaller file size, a denoise filter does not come to mind. I find that transcoding a 1080p blu-ray rip, fo...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023
Thanks for the reply. I did see that post, but I couldn't find the 3.10 .bin file. Any idea where it is? It didn't come with the .zip file that contained the SDFtool Flasher.exe and 3.02 .bin files. It is in the first post. There's a section titled "Unlocked Flashers, Downgrade Enabled Firmwar...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023
The very first post in this thread is maintained and has a section titled "Recommended Firmware to flash for MakeMKV:" And in there is says: Asus BW-16D1HT on any Firmware directly to > Asus BW-16D1HT 3.10MK I think the 3.11 firmware is encrypted, so you've got to go to 3.10MK first. You c...

Re: Ripping tv series episodes in the right order
On the Friends blu-ray box set, each episode is listed twice. Once with all the languages and once with English and Japanese. The segment map is the same for the two copies of the episode, so they're the same video, just different .mpls files surfacing different sets of audio and subtitles. My strat...

Re: How to restore factory firmware to BW-16D1HT drive?
The SDFtool Flasher thread . Near as I can tell, however, Marty's All You Need Firmware Pack only has 3.10 for the ASUS BW-16D1HT. It looks like the first post of this thread: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=18933 contains a link to the "modified ASUS FW Flasher + Downg...

Re: Does MakeMKV support CSS-MR discs?
That's a big difference. I can't imagine a big studio would take the time to remaster something like this down to a smaller file size just save on the costs of single-layer discs vs 2 layer discs. It seems like the costs savings would be small vs. costs to remaster the thing to a worse state. https:...

Re: Sometimes cannot open titles from backups?
In MakeMKV when you go through the backup process, there's a checkbox for making a decrypted backup. Can you copy & paste in the complete log file of a failed attempt, perhaps both from a regular blu-ray and a 4K UHD? 4K UHDs require a decryption key to be available for MakeMKV to download in or...

Re: Picture-in-Picture Tracks
You should be able to make a decrypted backup of the disc, open it in MKVToolNix GUI and extract the PiP tracks that MakeMKV doesn't show.

Re: Sometimes cannot open titles from backups?
Are you making a decrypted backup with MakeMKV? Does this happen with DVDs, blu-rays, or 4K UHDs?

Is it still available on newegg.com ? Any update? I am planning to buy one Almost certainly the major online retailers like NewEgg and Amazon do not have any old stock Pioneer drives with old firmware left in stock. Pioneer firmware update February 2023 If you want one for ripping UHDs, your best b...
