Re: Email address for key

I searched for 'makemkv' in my all mailboxes search, which searches both the header info and the actual text of all messages. My license key came from "no-reply@2checkout.com" back in 2019. I think there's a different processor these days.

Re: Why can't I upload images to the MakeMKV.com forum?

I don't know why things are they way they are on this forum, but my speculation is it is a way to prevent the storage needs (and the associated costs) of the server from going to super high levels. Even though a single screen shot isn't all that big, over the years the total amount of storage requir...

I think it is this one that's being referred to: It Follows (2014)

The dvdcompare.net entry says the USA version is by Anchor Bay Entertainment. Did they do disc obfuscation like Lions Gate did?

Re: Pioneer BDR 209 "No Disc inserted"

Generally you don't flash Pioneer drives. Pioneer firmware update February 2023

It is possible the optics on your drive are a bit dirty. I'm not an expert on cleaning drive optics, but I do know it can be done.

I'm a noob at using a VPN. Does "exit points" mean the server location I choose?
Yes. The same way you might use a VPN so Netflix (or whatever) thinks you're in a different country.

I'm using a VPN and that hasn't helped that I can see.
You might have to try different exit points for your VPN before you find one that isn't blocking your access to MakeMKV's key server.

Re: DVDFab/MacTheRipper Error

Both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis are available as reasonably priced blu-rays sets, at least in the USA. I don't think I've ever ended up with a counterfeit blu-ray when purchasing from a reputable outlet. I have found that going through the process of digitizing my collection has gotten me t...

Re: Which UHD drive is best under Linux?

This post is kept up to date: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide The easiest answer is to look for a seller in your region and buy a Pioneer drive with an older, supported firmware. Unfortunately, a recent Pioneer firmware update is designed to specifically prevent the drives from being used with Ma...

Re: Office Space Special Edition with Flair

Are you trying to rip from a disc? "AACS directory not present, assuming unencrypted disc" is an unusual thing to see in a log for a blu-ray. The source file '/BDMV/STREAM/00001.m2ts' is corrupt or invalid at offset 3172196352, attempting to work around ^ messages like that usually mean th...

I confirmed that the disc is not faulty by using AnyDVD to copy the entire contents to a hard drive.

At least I don't have to return it to Amazon.
You can use MakeMKV's backup option to create an encrypted backup before a decryption key is available to make sure the disc is readable.

I've been looking for some older posts where Radiocomms237 and I both commented on the usefulness of making decrypted backups as a beginning step to creating .mkv files.

Here's that thread: Most effcient method to Rip new Makemkv files with subtitle and forced subtitles

Is your drive flashed to be a LibreDrive? On the first screen of MakeMKV, right after it starts up, on the right is some drive info. You can post that here.

Re: Why do TV series DVD/BD add both 1080 and 480 and joined versions?

Ah, from the first run of Doctor Who. I don't have those particular discs, but I suspect they're like Star Trek: The Original Series, which has two copies of each episode, one with the original special FX and one with the updated special FX. In Doctor Who's case, I suspect it is the least worst 'ori...

Re: So now what? Purchased flashed Pioneer BD, Purchased MakeMKV, so how to convert and playback?

I have a lot of MikroTik gear in my network. I've found that most SFP+ -> RJ45 transceivers get pretty hot. The ports where I run fiber run a lot cooler (and draw less power). As such, it is become my preference where possible.
