Re: Hasked Key silently updated
That's not the newest update. 1.12.3 is downloading a copy and putting it either in a different location, different file format, or both. If I had to guess, it's now part of '_private_data.tar' which appeared to be the only new file in my MakeMKV data directory. This new location/format is incompati...

Re: G.I Joe Rise of the Cobra & Retaliation
I had same issue with Cars 3 UHD. 12.2.3 failed with a hash check error on an ASUS drive, and a LG drive. Reverting back to 12.2.2 and it ripped fine with no errors.

Re: MakeMKV to Handbrake for 4K (UHD)???
Some of us who have paid for these UHD disks want the video quality we paid for, so the movies don't get run through Handbrake and degraded to lower quality video. If you are going to do HEVC encoding you'll need hardware support to accomplish it. Thank you for your reply. I know it isn't a Handbrak...

Re: UHD playback on new VLC 3.0
Ironically my mac pro 2013 is playing back 24fps UHD movies with no frame skipping at all, but brand new imacs with hardware support built into the Intel chips are skipping frames.
This is loads better than VLC 2.0. I couldn't play UHD disks at all.

UHD playback on new VLC 3.0
Now with 4k, 8k and UHD support (10 and 12 bit video),etc.. VLC 3.0 "Vetinari" is a new major update of VLC. VLC 3.0 activates hardware decoding by default, to get 4K and 8K playback! It supports 10bits and HDR VLC supports 360 video and 3D audio, up to Ambisoncics 3rd order Allows audio p...

Re: UHD drives
I did the same thing. Removable media drives don't last forever, and this hole will eventually be plugged by the drive manufacturers. Decided to buy a second ASUS BW-16D1HT for peace of mind. First one was Dec 2016 3.00. New one is Jan 2017 3.00, and is also working just fine. My regular Blu-ray dri...

Re: How to Convert MKV to M2TS
I don't think your going to be able to view HDR content on a non-HDR TV without it looking washed out. It's just not going to look right.

Re: UHD support
Looks like Asus has just brought out 3.0.2 firmware for the asus BW-16D1HT as of 1/15/2018. I bet it closes the hole.

Re: UHD drives
You need a drive that is UHD 'friendly'. That is, it's not completely compliant with the security used to protect these disks. It's this non-compliance that allows the OS to read from these disks. Here's the 'UHD friendly' list from the DEUHD folks: LG BE16NU50(external, USB, recommended) LG WH16NS4...

Another slew of keys published on doom9 today, but with the cryptic comment "The magic spring dries out".
That doesn't sound good.

Re: 1080p vs 2160P
Yes, your HDR backups will look like washed out crap when your TV doesn't recognize that HDR content is being presented to it. I would recommend getting an Nvidia Shield with the Kodi or SPMC apps to properly play back your 4k HDR content. Recommended settings for the Shield and SPMC/Kodi are: https...

Re: Processing UHD rips with Handbrake or other software
Nvidia Shield with Kodi or SPMC makes a great Media Center. No lag on playing H265 except at some of the most absurd rates that you can find with these Jellyfish test suites.

As I understand Dolby Atmos, it's delivered within the Dolby TrueHD stream https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?ti ... pid2547074 "When TrueHD was first defined the specification included the ability to add extensions to the TrueHD audio stream, these extensions have been unused until now. When...

That's 10 SVQ's you should have submitted.

I've got 10 left now.
Whoever's finding these keys needs to be knighted.
VUKs
New UHD VUKs released on Doom9 two days ago. You need these to back up your UHD disks with Makemkv. Add them to your KEYDB.cfg file.
