Side note, it is possible to flash drives on macOS. You just have to do it via a Terminal window. Instructions are in the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide
If you want to use the handy SDFtool GUI, then a Windows machine is needed.

Re: LG WH14NS40 fw1.05
As I understand it, empirically, the WH16NS60 1.02 firmware is the least buggy and most likely to produce successful rips firmware for most LG hardware. It may be faster, but there are lots of scenarios where MakeMKV will choose to rip slower to increase the chances of a successful rip. For instance...

Re: Dump submitted for Dune 2021
Wait longer. It might take a couple of weeks. There are a bunch of Dune (2021) threads: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=145541#p145541 I don't see that anyone else has posted your exact dump. There's a UHD FAQ if you want to read more about the process. The hashed keys section is the...

I don't have much experience doing what you're doing with MakeMKV, but maybe if you copy & paste the MakeMKV log into here, something will be obvious to someone.

Re: Rip Dolby ATMOS Track without the Video?
The audio is intertwined with the video in the data written on the optical disc; it has to be so there's both video and sound at the same time. If you only want the audio, the optical drive would still have to read the whole thing to find all the audio. If you really want to save time, MakeMKV can w...

Re: Best 3 layer drive
I'm pretty sure the 43888 will still work out of the box with MakeMKV. There are better Pioneer drives however ( https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=147839#p147839 ). Unfortunately, a recent Pioneer firmware update specifically prevents it from working with MakeMKV for 4K UHDs. The selle...

Re: Beasts of the Southern Wild Fails
Super delayed, sorry I was out of the country. No worries. It appears that your drive is not properly flashed to enable LibreDrive. If it was, the 'Status' would be enabled. There's a post with instructions on how to flash your drive. Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide I can't say for certain if fl...

Re: mkv player
The Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide has a list of recommended drives. Pioneer drives are considered the best both for ripping and writing if that's your thing. Getting a Pioneer drive that works to rip 4K UHDs with MakeMKV means getting one with old firmware. Recent firmware updates have been put...

Re: genuine bad disc or issue with makemkv ?
1. MakeMKV cannot open this disc. Does that mean the disc registers in the drive, but MakeMKV can't navigate the disc structure? What happens if you use MakeMKV to make a (decrypted) backup of the disc? Out of curiosity, is this a DVD or a blu-ray? Error 'Posix error - No such device' occurred whil...

There are different DVD Opening Modes you can try.
Also, some recent posts on the forum suggest that some troublesome DVDs seem to work better on version 1.16.7 of MakeMKV. https://www.makemkv.com/download/old/

I wonder, is it possible to rate limit how quickly a guest can click through on the forum? I don't know if that'll help and I don't want to make the site unusable for guests, but it is sorta unusable now.
I wonder if someone is very clumsily scraping the site to feed into a training set for a LLM?

I've tried both my copy and a friends copy and they are getting the same error. I've cleaned the disk well with 91% alcohol but still getting the hash error seen in the image. Had it on a few other discs but figured I'd use this as the example. https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipMt4fadpIsgHjazMa...

Re: Question about non-4K UHD Blu-Ray’s
MakeMKV will work most DVD or regular blu-ray drives for DVDs or regular blu-rays. For 4K UHDs, you'll need a LibreDrive capable drive. If you've got a drive sitting on a shelf, it is a reasonable place to start. There are certain edge cases for DVDs and regular blu-rays where a rip would work with ...
