Re: Can MakeMKV use .mpls files?
makemkv doesn't allow us to use mpls files directly. If you want to use an mpls file (for instance makemkv filters that playlist away from some reason not simply based on the user controllable length filter), then you would simply load it into mkvtoolnix and use it there (after making a full disc de...

Re: Why does MakeMKV say that AnyDVD is enabled when AnyDVD is not running?
Just curious but why are you complicating your workflow by even using AnyDVD when MakeMKV is all you need. Well, AnyDVD is used for making 1:1 backups that are easier to for me to deal with than to have to go into deep physical storage to find a random disc that I forgot to rip all of the bonus fea...

Re: How can I limit computer resources used by MakeMKV?
I'd recommend running it linux where you have the OS primitives to "sandbox" an app to a maximum set of cpu/io resources.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Is there some trick to enabling lossless audio in Plex on the Ugoos AM6B Plus? Lossless audio works in Kodi. Oddly, the 32-bit Kodinerds build seems to discard the Full Enhancement Layer in Dolby Vision, even though Plex plays it perfectly. If I can just get lossless audio working in Plex, I will f...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Q, has there been any work done for colorspace conversion for DV profile 5 to HDR10 or SDR? There's plenty of work on tonemapping HDR10 to SDR, but wondering about for DV content on non DV devices. Of course, it has been supported in libplacebo and mpv for a while now. Also, Jellyfin has beta suppo...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Pioneer BDR-S12UHT (or 212UBK) can read even "stones". It is silent and able to perfectly read/write any UHD 4K Blu-Ray, expecially triple or quad layer, while LG sometimes fails. This is a long-planned feature actually. Right now, when you make a backup, if you select a non-empty destina...

Re: 2-3x Faster rips on certain disks.
its not always the cleanliness of the disc. some drives will slow down automatcally if they detect the content is encrypted. (libredrive can help with this, but not all drives support libedrive).

Re: How to find which one is which episode?
I open the bluray/dvd in a player and play each episode corollating its length to the length shown in makemkv. If it has a play all playlist, sometimes I can skip that step and use the segments in the playall playlist to figure it out.

Re: Poldark Season 1 and 5 Blu Ray MPLS - Help?
easiest thing is to use anydvd :) if it doesn't report the playlists (due to no one reporting it to them yet) report it to them in the forum with a log. they'll probably then ask you to make a new log and after processing it, should work fine (based on my experience in past) PBS playlist obfuscation...

Re: MAKEMKV fails to convert slideshows
makemkv doesn't really follow the playlist timing. this is known, for discs that depends on playlist timing (including in/out) you can't use makemkv, you need to use mkvtoolnix.

Re: Feature Request: discatt.dat and ISO file
the workaround for now is to extract the iso to a folder and stick it inside.
the issue is that one might store multiple iso's in a single folder and discatt.dat isn't meant to be associated with iso like that.

Re: Feature Comparison with DVDFab Passkey
no. makemkv only removes aacs and bd+ encryption (all that's needed to convert to mkv). It does nothing to ensure you have a region free / java protection removed disc. That's not its goal.

Re: Disc not Displaying Widescreen
yes, i've reported this bug in MakeMKV in the past. it uses the aspect ratio from the VOB not from the IFO. So it creates bad aspect ratio MKVs in the cases where the DVD was authored inconsistently (it should use IFO per DVD spec as I understand it). VLC has the same issue. mkvtoolnix is the way I ...
