Re: One movie, 2 DVD, and after ?
In MKVMerge, you click on the "Append" button, not "Add". Append will properly sequence all the tracks (assuming they match between the two files) so they will seamlessly play one after the other. Otherwise you end up with two tracks side by side. MKVMerge takes care of all the t...

Re: MKV / SRT Issue
SubtitleEdit has many options to do with fixing timings, one of which enforces a minimum duration, perhaps you have that checked?

Re: Before I purchase Question
You can install licensed MakeMKV on as many computers as you like, but can only use one at a time. If you need to reinstall, same thing. IF you lose your license, you can email support to get the key, or better yet, back it up on a USB stick or cloud storage somewhere.

Re: Feature request - Closed Caption support
I also have 1 single DVD that has French subtitles and English CC. Many TV show DVDs use CC as well.
You need to rip the title into a VOB as mentioned, and run CCExtractor on it. Then run MakeMKV as normal, and mux in the subtitles after with mkvtoolnix.

No one knows when the beta period will be over, if ever.
If you want to pay price in USD, which I think always works out the cheapest (it's like $80 CDN), you can use a US-based HTTP/S web proxy to make your purchase, as currency selection is hardwired based on geolocation.

Re: MKV rip which track/Chapter?
Offtopic for this thread, but since the player knows which version to play it should be possible to trace through the menu programming and determine which chains are duds and which have entry points from the interface.

Re: No new BETA key?
The purchased key does not expire, and there is no reason to believe it would stop working when (if) MakeMKV comes out of beta.

Re: Aspect Ratio and other questions (please help)
Sounds like VLC is set to start up in a certain window size, and to rescale the video to fit the window. You can change that in VLC settings. When you go to Tools->Codec Info, what do you see there for your MKVs? If MakeMKV was re-coding the Blu Rays, you would notice, because it would take 10 times...

Re: AVI to MKV Converter
mkvtoolnix (mkvmergegui specifically) can actually handle .avi .mpg and .mp4 as source containers, not just .mkv.

Re: MakeMKV Price
The price is what the price is, but I am shown $70.10 (CDN), so I believe it is 50 Euros, not USD. That's $70.26 at today's exchange rate. Nowhere on the web site or MakeMKV itself is the actual price indicated that I can see. Do Canadians just pay more? We're used to it, FWIW.

Re: To Compress or not to compress?
Tell me more about this "XBMC tuning"? For DVDs, I don't really care, they are small and low quality enough. But for BRs using a target bitrate might be either too wasteful or not enough. I figure fiddling with the settings for each movie individually is way too much work and time, and I a...

Subtitles vs closed captioning
How are CC encoded on DVDs? Not subtitles, but closed captions. For example, The Man Who Wasn't There DVD has French/Spanish subtitles, and English closed captions. On extraction in MakeMKV, only the two subtitles show up. How do I get at the closed captions?

Re: To Compress or not to compress?
With 12TB, definitely do not bother. Strip off the extras and other language and format audio, subtitles, etc. That's 500 titles at around 22-25GB each. Hmm, might be a problem in my case :) If you start running out of space, you can either add more space (disk will be higher capacity), or begin to ...
