Re: Schindler's List missing key
MakeMKV will download keys silently. It probably downloaded the key for your copy of the movie. If you look in your data directory (as specified in preferences) you'll find a file named _private_data.tar where the downloaded keys are stored.

Re: Forbidden Planet Blu-Ray Audio Problem
pjarvi's suggestion is a good one. Also, what did the MakeMKV log say when you ripped the movie? You can turn on debug logging in MakeMKV ( https://www.makemkv.com/faq/item/8 ). Also, you can use a utility called MediaInfo ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaInfo ) to learn all sorts of details abo...

Re: MakeMKV 1.15.2 and UHD disk with DV Direct Play
This behavior seems to be client dependent. https://forums.plex.tv/t/why-does-plex-transcode-internal-subtitles-pgs-can-i-prevent-it/309545 A post from a Plex employee in the thread linked above… We make player apps for many devices. They use varying technologies based on the device they are on and ...

https://makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=16251 There are lots of posts on this forum on that topic. The link above is as good a place to start as any. MakeMKV has a feature to try to detect the correct playlist in this kind of fake playlist scenario. https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic...

Re: MakeMKV 1.15.2 and UHD disk with DV Direct Play
What is the reason to go with the external .srt file? Does the MKV not have a forced subtitle track in it? My Plex seems to do direct play with subtitles that are part of my MKV. I've never had to use an external .srt with Plex before.
It depends on your client's capabilities too.

Re: Botched subtitles when ripping Avatar
My copy of Avatar seems to be the same, at least the art from the back cover is similar. My rip also has a couple of SDH 'leaks' in the forced subtitle track at around 46 minutes. These are present in the MKV made a while ago with MakeMKV 1.14.3 and the one I made today with 1.15.2. This is a US ret...

Re: (FLAC,TRUEHD,AC3,E-AC3,DTS)->LPCM
You can create a conversion profile to specify LPCM output. https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4385 After reading this guy's post https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=21630 I was able to hack my own conversion profile to turn DTS-HD MA tracks into LCPM-raw. I tr...

Re: Speeding up MakeMKV
It is probably worth pointing out that MakeMKV will happily run multiple instances of itself. You could add a second drive and rip two discs at once. My drive is a fairly new LG that is supported by Libre drive. It usually doesn't take 40 minutes to rip a blu-ray movie, but more like 25 to 30 minute...

Re: How to Rip Blu-Ray discs with MakeMKV and handbrake
I'm running into a new problem with ripping BluRays that I buy used off eBay. I've never had a problem before but this one is giving me SCSI errors and all kinds of issues. Has anything changed lately in terms of how BluRays are encrypted or protected? Can anyone steer me in the right direction abo...

Re: Botched subtitles when ripping Avatar
My copy of Avatar has two subtitle tracks. One is as you describe with "Speaking in Navi" and the other is as you expect, without the extra stuff. Both tracks are 'forced subtitles'.

Re: Laputa - No usabel subtitles found in the MKV result file
The output suggests that there are subtitle tracks in your MKV file. It also says they're of type: Codec ID : S_HDMV/TEXTST Which is a legit format it seems: https://www.matroska.org/technical/subtitles.html It is, however, uncommon I think. I searched through all my MKV files and I only have 1 movi...

I think the OP means the movie from 1993 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107969/ which I do not think has been released on UHD (https://www.blu-ray.com/Rising-Sun/18120/).

Re: Removing subtitles doesn't make file sizes much smaller
As an example, I looked at a MKV rip of a DVD movie I have using MediaInfo . The total size is 5.66GiB. The video is 5.02GiB of that total. The AC-3 5.1 audio track of 370MiB. There are two stereo AC-3 audio tracks at 132MiB each. There are 3 subtitle tracks. The smallest is 3.73MiB. The largest is ...
