For whatever reason the currently available makemkv-bin-1.17.7.tar.gz (SHA256=a760...) has been re-compressed with gz (so it is effectively a tar.gz.gz file). If you gunzip the SHA256=a760... archive you will get the original tar.gz archive with SHA256=8c5bc831bc952b1f873cc8450c64e392db0b2479b626d1...
