refcounted_frames was added to avcodec.h in ffmpeg-2.0.

Is there any chance you could send me makemkv-1.8.5? This way I could check if it is the system upgrade which hosed the setup.

I told you it will not work, tried it myself. I am one of the people maintaining ffmpeg for Fedora. We do not update ffmpeg after release due to multitude of dependencies. Fedora 20 will be out in a month, and it sports ffmpeg-2.1.0 which does work with makemkv-1.8.6.

You probably don't have ffmpeg-devel installed. In any case, ffmpeg in Fedora 19 is too old (1.2.4).

I don't have any new ones. The ones I was inserting were the big bang theory season 7 and star trek tng season 2, both of which worked before the upgrade.

I don't unfortunately, as I upgraded to fedora 20 for this very reason. It was failing with something about avcodeccontext. I can set up a fedora 19 vm if needed.

The fact of the matter is that makemkv-1.8.6 needs very recent ffmpeg. 1.2 does not work, 2.1 does. I am not sure about 2.0.
