Additional update: trying to rip the bluray while using the USB2 cable in a different port gave me M2TS hash check errors, and when I tried again, MakeMKV encountered a fatal error and crashed. I was able to use handbrake to directly re-encode the video off the disk after I set MakeMKV to be globall...

OK I am trying out a USB2 type B cable plugged into a different port and was able to rip a DVD that wasn't working for me before, trying out the bluray that was giving me grief before now. I have a USB C to B cable on the way now as well that I will try out. It may have been the cable.

I am using the included USB3 type B cable and it is plugged directly into a USB3 port on my motherboard. I am using the included power adapter for power.It seems the drive keeps losing connection and disappears from the computer. How is the drive connected to the PC?
