I went ahead and mounted mine externally using a USB 3.0 enclosure since I’m mostly working off a laptop too. It’s been working great for backups and game storage, and honestly, way easier than trying to rig something internal without a desktop.

If you're still shopping around, you might want to check out PC International — they’ve got a decent selection of enclosures and drives, often at better prices than the usual big sites. I found a few good deals there when I was piecing together my setup.
