Re: Spider-Man (2002) Backup Fails

What happens if you try an older version of MakeMKV? v1.16.7 doesn't work, either. I installed v1.16.7, set my system clock back to June 2022, and launched MakeMKV. The option to "backup" was grayed out in both the toolbar and menu. I tried the CLI and got the following: MSG:5072,131072,1...

Re: Spider-Man (2002) Backup Fails

What happens if you try an older version of MakeMKV? https://makemkv.com/download/old/ According to the revision history , the DVD engine was rewritten in 1.17.0. Perhaps give version 1.16.7 a try. Version 1.18.0 fixed a crash that was introduced by changes in MacOS 15.4. So if your Mac is up-to-da...

Spider-Man (2002) Backup Fails

Backing up Spider-Man (2002) always fails despite trying different computers (all Macs), drives, and discs. If I log debug messages, I get one, solitary error. With MakeMKV v1.18.1 [darwin(arm64-release)]: Backing up disc into folder "/[...]/DVD/backup/Spider-Man (2002).iso" DEBUG: Code 0 ...

That said, the first one I bought stopped reading Blu-rays after about a week of constant use. Who knows? ...

Re: VLC to playback bd-image with Apple Silicon?

You should not copy libaacs.dylib. If it later gets updated by Homebrew, you would have to copy it again. You should also not use a macOS alias file or copy/paste or drag/drop anything in the Finder. Instead, use a symbolic link. Since you already need to use the Terminal for Homebrew, just finish u...

Maybe a drive /can/ destroy itself...

I am new to MakeMKV and decided it's time to finish backing up my DVD library and a dozen or so BDs. I still have, and occasionally use, RipIt on an older Intel Mac. I don't have any UHD discs, so I went with a recent Pioneer BDR-XD08B aware of the firmware caveats and potentials. Drive Information ...
