Re: Using 'ddrescue' with MakeMKV to process defective DVDs
This is in the manual for ddrescue, although the manual does have problems with vagueness in the early sections describing what exactly happens in the various phases. Check the sections about optical disc recovery, and some of the examples involving multiple discs and multiple drives. I do recommen...

Re: Using 'ddrescue' with MakeMKV to process defective DVDs
The ddrescue map file allows you to interrupt the operation and resume it some other time -- with a different disc (same pressing, different copy), different computer, different optical drive, etc. Also, you can resume and tweak the operation if you decide to reverse direction, or change which phas...

Re: Using 'ddrescue' with MakeMKV to process defective DVDs
Do the various ddrescue phases, one at a time, alternating between drives. Whatever is skipped by the first drive can be attempted by the second drive, which may be able to read problematic areas better. That is better than just using a single drive and having it get bogged down on difficult areas ...

Re: Using 'ddrescue' with MakeMKV to process defective DVDs
You should use multiple optical drives at the various ddrescue phases, certainly before the time-consuming scrape and retry phases. Sorry, but I'm not following your suggestion... I've got 2 drives, but it completely escapes me as to how I'd use them both to recover an ISO file from a "failing...

Re: Can MakeMKV process a "rescued" DVD / ISO file(s)??
It seems it can! Use the 'File' menu to open the ISO file (created via GNU's 'ddrescue' utility), and process it "as usual" using MakeMKV. A few notes to summarize my experience using 'ddrescue' with MakeMKV: 1. It's not clear to me exactly what causes a DVD to malfunction such that MakeMK...

Using 'ddrescue' with MakeMKV to process defective DVDs
I'm finding more DVDs in my collection that are un-readable... un-readable not only by MakeMKV, but also un-readable even in my "TV-connected DVD player". Searching for a solution has turned up a GNU package called 'ddrescue' . I've used 'ddrescue' to create an ISO file of a DVD, and it se...

Question re License terms
I'm considering buying a license for MakeMKV. However, I've been unable to find any document or documentation that describes the license terms.
Does anyone know where the license terms for MakeMKV can be found??
Thnx,

Re: What is the deal with the KEY?
I suggest you stop using MakeMKV and find other software. You are not merely complaining of the FREE software you are using, you are doing it based: 1- Mostly on WHERE the author is from? 2- Supplemented by you not being acquainted with him? 3- Supplemented with the free key not always being functi...

Re: What is the deal with the KEY?
This thread is an excellent exhibit on taking "free" software for granted. As soon as Mike went offline for a week the sky fell even though most of the commenters on this thread never paid him anything. I paid him as soon as he came back online LOL Good for you, and I truly hope you're no...

Re: What is the deal with the KEY?
So really you are saying that you don't want to buy it but will carry on using it for free that doesn't make much sense. You really don't read very well, do you? Maybe I didn't read it properly but when people say things like they will buy it when they had more experience, IMO that's just saying I ...

Re: Reliable Way to Determine "Episode Order" for TV Series Blu Ray Discs
Hello there, as already mentioned before, this "mpls-thing" doesn't always seem to be the right way, since the order is different sometimes. So I've got to ask if there's any method or software out there to find out the right order of episodes on a tv series Blu Ray Disc? (doesn't matter ...

Re: What is the deal with the KEY?
I paid him as soon as he came back online LOL Good for you, and I truly hope you're not disappointed. Since learning that MakeMKV is from Russia , I'd feel more comfortable if the software were open source. Nothing against Russians individually, but the country does seem to be home to some unscrupu...
