Re: Is the LibreDrive firmware causing Linux to be unable to read DVDs, but still read BluRays just fine?

Can you dd to create an image of the DVD? dd if=/dev/sr2 of=~/Desktop/somename.img status=progress conv=noerror, notrunc, sync There's a wikipedia page for the command if you're not familiar with it.... the above reads all the data from /dev/sr2 and makes a bitcopy img at ~/Desktop/somename.img You sh...

Think this is a DVD disc problem, but asking to learn more...

So, succesfully tested some UK DVDs with no issues, I have an NTSC Region 1 DVD that has three episodes of a show per DV...

Re: Fedora, Flatpack and flashing drives......

Thanks for the quick reply.. Just one last question.... I was reading about AACS and my drive is now enabled up to AACS 53, what's a good rule to follow regarding purchasing BR's that limits the chances of a newer BR with a later AACS version deleting the keytable (which I assume in effect revokes t...

Re: Fedora, Flatpack and flashing drives......

So, a couple of follow up questions where I'm looking for others more extensive experience.... In my assorted readings I saw a reference to a modified ffmpeg, but can't find the comment now. Also, if I'm going to use the 1.18.x version inside my flatpak, should I also use handbrake inside that same ...

Re: Fedora, Flatpack and flashing drives......

Thanks.

Fedora, Flatpack and flashing drives......

OK, after spending some till reading and re-reading I thought I'd got to the point of being ready to move ahead....little did I know! I built a small test rig to try this out on, so it couldn't affect my main box. Fedora 43, Asus BW-16D1HT drive with firm 3.11. I'd read that their may be some 'issue...

Pre Purchase advice LG BH16NS40

I'm looking at buying a used LG BH16NS40 and although I've read a load of the posts here thought I'd just get some comfort before I pull the trigger. The drive is reported as..... ROM Ver 1.00 Manuf Date Jan 2013 Model BH16NS40 I'm hesitant to post the full serial as I haven't bought it yet, however...
