The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Trying to back up this DVD. Took the first one back because it said there was no disc. Second one does the same. Disc spins for 5 - 10 minutes then says there is no disc. Any suggestions

I've tried using MakeMKV for DVD's with more than one episode. In one case it showed 3 episodes when there was 4. In others it listed more than what was on the DVD. I looked at the time length and that does help. What would be nice is a preview capability so you can review each episode to verify tha...

I think you misunderstand my question. My point is that compression does not have to be lossy, I used the audio comparison of Flac and APE as examples that are absolutely bit perfect and they can reduce the file size by 40-50%. One can have compression without losing data. A good example is a zip file or for audio flac or APE files. Compression can be loss-less. I am not suggesting an AVI type of compression where data is lost.
