Re: What audio formats to choose
In most cases with True-HD or DTS-MA, you've got core-audio, which is the DTS/3+2.1 or DD 5.1 mix, plus the HD wrapper. The wrapper is simply the "missing information" from the core to make up the HD soundtrack. For day-to-day use, I simply rip the core audio mix only and ignore the HD for...

Re: Best compression while maintaining quality
My family generally doesn't appreciate differences in quality, thus I favor an approach that is "very good" in both audio and video quality, but saves on disk space. If I want the full HD audio and unmolested video experience, I'll view the source disc instead. I use Handbrake for everythi...

Re: Please add the ability to queue up multiple drives
Fair warning - unless your target storage can handle 3 drives worth of I/O, running more than two instances may result in MakeMKV waiting for your target drive to complete it's write. Depending on the file system (i.e. NTFS), you may also end up with incredibly fragmented target files if the targets...

Re: dealing with a 1080i VC-1 encode
+1 on RipBot264. Doctor Who Series 5 (and the Christmas Special for Series 6) had the same problem as they were both 1080i VC-1 sources. The settings were not easy to come up with when trying to match my typical Handbrake settings. Going by memory, it took more than one attempt to get de-interlacing...

Re: Doctor Who series six part one (US)
I can confirm that the MAIN episodes in Series 6 are 1080i MPEG4 AVC with DTS-HD audio, which I can easily convert to H.264 w/ Handbrake. The Christmas Special on disc 1 is still 1080i VC-1, which I'm still struggling to find a decent conversion tool - RipBot264 does an okay job, but doesn't quite h...
