Re: 1.6.5,1.6.4,1.6.3 fail to calculate filesize correctly
Well, if I could remember the reason why the version 1.6.5 came out was to solve this very issue. Anyway, it seems a new update is necessary for calculating the file size aptly. By the way, it is good that you have come up with a code regarding this to fix it for now.

Re: Installation Script
I have to say that it was really a great initiative from your part to update the script which would now enable us to run the most recent makemkv-install. Thanks to this update, the latest version shall now automatically be downloaded. Anyway, thanks for informing to do the sudo apt upgrade.

Re: makemkvcon broken...at least on my system
Well, I do not think that you can skip either OSS or BIN packages since you need both of them. Anyway, since installing both of them still didn’t make it work for you, I would recommend you update your distribution. I am sure that would sort out the issue.

Re: Application failed to initialize
Well, this often happens for most starters and I think the reason why the error message pops up showing that the application has failed to initialize could be of several reasons. I do find binary packages to be responsible for this. Why don’t you try and see if you can run Makemkvcon?
