Re: MKV back to DVD or Blu Ray
This is a great thread, thx! I too want to move my ripped .MKV's back into .ISO's and burn backup copies of some movie-DVDs, and the info here sounds like the ticket. I noticed one reply, which was explaining the issue of single-layer vs dual-layer blank DVDs. I'd heard of this, but needed a 'refres...

I've had one case where subtitles (VobSub) won't come thru
I've done maybe 20 movie-DVDs now, and just one sub-title problem: "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" ('Special Edition' movie-DVD, approx 1:32 run-time) There are 28 chapters in the first 'cell' and 2 chapters in the 2nd cell. So, as I always do, I left the first cell (28 chapters) selecte...

Re: Angle-1 vs Angle-2 (Jackie Brown dvd)
Thx for that, VideoWolf!
(Silly me...thought maybe they meant 'camera angles'.)
You answer really makes some sense. Kind of like having both
the original version, plus a directors-cut, both on the single DVD.

Angle-1 vs Angle-2 (Jackie Brown dvd)
I've been ripping/transcoding movie-DVDs for a year or so (mostly, to broadcast on Veetle) Most every rip-tool I've played with, has seemingly been separating what I refer to as 'the wheat from the chaff'. i.e. I want just the movie itself (a series of 'chapters' or title-sets or whatever they're ca...

Feedback on your installation for the Linux-edition...
Ok, I DID succeed in doing the installation on Linux (on my Debian-family 'aptosid' distribution). I followed your instructions shown here: http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=224 That said, I would encourage you to improve upon your distribution method, as beta proceeds along towa...

Re: Could you please relax your pwd rules just a TAD?
But, my gut says that your rule is effecting LOTS of people, who like me, aren't gonna be too happy that your folks decided to pioneer a new standard in password rules. Am I asking too much???? It's a ffecting, btw, :) and yes you are asking too much. Personally, I'm amazed this is the first...

Re: MakeMKV is NOT a transcoding-tool. Agreed???
Wouldn't it just be better to just PM Mike and mention that he should change the terminology on the MakeMKV website based on those reasons? SC Hey, if you're on a 'personal name' (PM) basis with someone to 'lobby' on this issue, then by all means DO THAT. We're just (somewhat knowledgeable) NEWBIES...

Re: My first MKV file is much LARGER than I expected...
Hi! My experience in the past, with a bunch of similar ripping/transcoding tools, typically yields files of maybe half-a-gigabyte or so. MakeMKV is NOT a compression tool... Maybe, it's the 'magic' of H.264 video-codec that allows the file size to drop so much? That is VERY likely the case ;>} Ok.....

Ok, I'm a total newbie to your product. I think I'm gonna LIKE it...I like the concept, of being able to take any of the DVDs from my movie collection (of about 70 titles, and counting), and first just 'blindly' rip them into a .mkv container, without yet considering what video or audio codecs that ...

Could you please relax your pwd rules just a TAD?
The rule you folks have, of ReQuIRinG mixedcase, is just a bit over the top, don't you think? Consider that maybe some (many) of us might already have a pwd that we use, at the 25 or 50 or so places that existed, before you came along with your goofy rule. e.g. so now, I'm gonna have to remem...
