If not which production date is on the drive's sticker? Or which front has the drive? Two or three symbols on the right? It doesn't have to be, but it can be a clue. Manufacture date is June 2012. Try insereting a blu-ray disc and let MakeMKV initialize it. See if it shows up after that.
