Re: Current Debian Sid: "configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables"

I still fail to compile any MakeMKV version on my Debian Unstable installation, be it the latest 1.14.2 or the old 1.12.0 I'm still forced to use now (which compiled just fine back then). Would be glad to hear from other Debian users if they have problems, too... or preferably, any hint on what the ...

Re: Current Debian Sid: "configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables"

Sorry, that was to illustrate the process... copy&paste error. Of course, I downloaded and precessed the currect version 1.12.3. That all went well, up to "./configure". And that error isn't specific to 1.12.3, but also to 1.12.0 which compiled ok back then.

[SOLVED] Current Debian Sid: "configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables"

Hi, following the usual procedure with an up-to-date Debian Unstable, $ sudo apt-get install build-essential pkg-config libc6-dev libssl-dev libexpat1-dev libavcodec-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libqt4-dev zlib1g-dev $ wget http://www.makemkv.com/download/makemkv-bin-1.12.3.tar.gz $ wget http://www.makemkv.c...

Re: Errormessage: Application failed to initialize on Linux

Tried upgrading 1.9.7 to 1.9.10 (compiled with ffmpeg 3.0.2). Getting this message when starting the gui. I don't use the console so I can only say that the usage message displays without error. I just rebuilt, this time using ffmpeg 2.7.3. Still getting "Application failed to initialize"...

Re: Only sound, no video

You give very little info. Which distro do you use, which media player have you tried? My first guess would be that you got a problem with some video codec. Try playing it with the VLC player, which has built-in support for most codecs. You could also try to find out more about the used codecs with ...

Re: Is converting disc content to mkv files really necessary

(...)It is very much appreciated by me and I'm sure many other Linux users. :). +1 from me! And I too have dumped the whole idea of burning media to discs altogether. MakeMKV+Handbrake+mkvtoolnix-gui+XBMC (more specificaly openelec in my case) - the perfect combination and all native linux. My than...

Re: MKV Files Do Not FF and Stop Near End

I'm not familiar with that process, but I'll read up and see what the issue is. I took the same movie folder and used a third party program (don't know if I can call out names) and it was able to do one large m2ts file that I could play on my WD TV Live Plus. But, for some reason, that particular p...

Re: Handbrake can't see subtitles from makeMKV?

I offer a different approach, probably more straightforward: 1) rip with MakeMKV as usual 2) re-encode with Handbrake without the PGS subs [btw, I use audio pass-thru & x264 1080p constant rate factor 22 which is more than sufficient with my 110" Full HD projector screen, imho] 3) open the ...
