You've to flash it for MakeMKV compatibility.

Flash directly to BU40N 1.03MK.

It looks like you ended up with one of the new Verbatim 43888 drives with an LG BU40N drive inside it instead of a Pioneer drive.

Verbatim 43888 with LG drive?

I saw many reccomended the Verbatim 43888 to rip 4K UHD movie
The make mkv software cannot read from the discs, in oppose the my pioneer drive that works perfectly fine.
The make mkv error says:
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT PRESENT

and ...

Is it true that the manufacturing of external 4k blu ray readers a stopped due the lack of official motherboard support on pc?

Or in general, stopped?
I am considering purchasing an extra drive for future proof
