Re: Improving vocals from Blu-rays?
I keep forgetting how versatile MKVToolNix is. Yes your quite right , I could use it to do that, although I must admit, its not something I've done before. Give me something to fool around with.

Is there a away to run it thru Audacity somehow, without it taking 2 hours? Or maybe seperate the vocals and then run it thru Audacity?

Re: Improving vocals from Blu-rays?
Thats a great article, reminds me a bit about the Loudness wars we had a few years ago with music CD's and how it was mixed. I love it, technology jumps ahead leaps and bounds, and we get dialogue we can't understand. A lot of it sound like just plain laziness. Don't they get it? Its a package deal,...

Re: Improving vocals from Blu-rays?
I was hoping the Dynamic Compression would help. Its frustrating, finally getting the nice clear video and the Audio not keeping up.

Improving vocals from Blu-rays?
Just started getting my blurays discs on a hardrive using MKV and Handbrake. I'm a bit on in years and I guess my hearing isn't what it used to be. I'm finding it a bit difficult hearing vocals from movies after I get the files onto my HD. I'm watching on a pretty old Samsung, but no night settings ...

Re: Alternatives to Handbrake?
Well my knowledge base is growing, but its still quite a learning curve. Thats OK, my brand new Zidoo Z9X Pro now does not do movie matching any longer. Something to do with the IMDB API. Yes its quite a learning curve indeed. Hows that saying go"If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing wel...

Re: Alternatives to Handbrake?
Is there a tutorial that goes thru details about the filters and what should be used where, or is it all a matter of learning thru trial and error?

Re: Fairly inexpensive PC for Handbrake use?
No sweat, just couldn't figure out what was going on. Guess I'll find out in a few days when I get it setup and running.

Re: Fairly inexpensive PC for Handbrake use?
Sounds like a good idea, what was all that crossed out something important? Not sure what the ARK thing is, but I don't think mine has that anyways.

Re: Fairly inexpensive PC for Handbrake use?
Great, pretty good price too. I was going to just build one, but I did a few parts picksa nd the best I could get was around $600-800 and that was without a keyboard, mouse, or monitor. I think I'll have to get more memory though, 8 GB I'm sure isn't enough.

Re: Alternatives to Handbrake?
The closest though to X264 without artifacts is probably QSV though isn't it ? If QSV is the way to go next to X264, what are my best options for a CPU that would get me my best image?

Alternatives to Handbrake?
I know its probably the easiest to use and its free, but are there any alternatives that don't heat up the CPU so much for regular x264 conversions ? Maybe an apple program even. Maybe I should ask If there are any paid versions of software. Just looking for alternatives as handbrake takes quite awh...

Re: Fairly inexpensive PC for Handbrake use?
Just curious how this compares to a PC based CPU. I mean right now with my older I5 11600K and 16 GB of memory I ca do a regular x264 Bluray between 30 minutes and maybe 1 1/2 hours. I'm not sure why the difference with same settings of Format MKV Video Encoder H264(x264) Framerate Same as Source, C...

Re: Fairly inexpensive PC for Handbrake use?
I no little about Macs, but I must say you have me intrigued. Which one would you recommend and what are the best options to get with it. Or just point me in a good direction for using one for MKV and Handbrake use ? I have an older 22" Samsung that works fine, but its VGA connectors probably w...
