Re: Fast and Furious 4K
I noticed something really strange that occurs with both F&F1 and F&F3. Also something I haven't mentioned is that those two discs take a long time, 3-5x longer than normal just to the point where you can open the disc. Then it progresses slowly through steps of parsing, decrypting, before u...

Re: Fast and Furious 4K
I've been ripping my movie collection for about a month. Thus far I've been ripping discs that I've had for quite a while, all at least two years old. I've sucessfully ripped about 125, all 4k. Before today there have only been 5 that I haven't been able to rip with only two that resulted in a tgz d...

Re: Fast and Furious 4K
Has anyone been able to successfully rip the 4k Fast & Furious 8 movie collection? This collection is by no means new. But I just tried ripping the first 3 movies just now and they all resulted in TGZ dumps, which I have sent to svq@makemkv.com. I tried searching to see if any of the tgz files h...

Re: Subtitles for Dummies, or At Least Newbies
Is there anyway to have MakeMKV set the forced flag upon ripping. Yes. Highlight the subtitle track to be marked as forced. In the dropdown in the Properties box on the right, select MKV Flags. In the value field, put an 'f'. If you want to mark the track as default as well, put a 'd'. Thank you!!!...

Re: Problem with Happy Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
In my limited experience, ripping 100+ 4k Blu Rays in the last month, this is caused by one of two issues. Either an issue with the disc, in which about the only thing you can do is try cleaning the disc. Or the other potential problem is a connection issue between your drive and your system. I have...

Re: Subtitles for Dummies, or At Least Newbies
Thank you for all the reponses, they have been very helpful. I am now using Subtitle Edit to identify the forced subtitles and then setting the flag using MKVToolNix. Is there anyway to have MakeMKV set the forced flag upon ripping. Prior to ripping in the file tree it identifies forced subtitles, b...

Re: Subtitles for Dummies, or At Least Newbies
I've installed mkvtoolnix, so now I can go back and strip out all of the language and subtitle tracks I don't need/want. It's pretty simple to use, at least to remove audio and subtitle tracks, which is all I've done so far. But I have a question about subtitles. For subtitles all I want is English,...

Re: Again, selection of languages?
Ok, I think I'm figuring out the subtitles. It looks like (at least with the Plex client on my PC) in order to see the english subtitles when a foreign language is being spoken you have to select subtitles in the Plex client at the time of playback. I went into the (PLEX) settings and set languages ...

Re: Again, selection of languages?
So then technically, if I only want to hear and see english subtitles (when a foreign language is spoken) then I really only need to select english audio and subtitles. That's kind of what I figured originally, but I think I think I may be having issues. I'll need to look closer at what I have. Than...

Re: Subtitles for Dummies, or At Least Newbies
Thanks!! I want 1:1 bit copies, both audio and video, so no reencoding or compression. Looks like I need to get mkvtoolnix.
Thank you again!!

Re: Subtitles for Dummies, or At Least Newbies
Thank you!! And how do you "toss out" language tracks you don't want after the .mkv has already been created?

Subtitles for Dummies, or At Least Newbies
I'm about two weeks in ripping my 4K Blu Ray collection. I'm putting my movies on a Synology NAS, which is where my Plex Media Server is running. My primary Plex playback client is a 2019 nVidia Shield Pro. All I have been using is makeMKV ripping to .mkv files and placing them on my NAS. I'm not us...

Re: Again, selection of languages?
So to close the loop on this then. To ensure you get all foreign language subtitles to display on an english language movie when subtitles are turned on it is simplest/safest to just select all subtitles? Theoretically only the "forced" subtitles are necessary for this, but better safe tha...

Re: Fast and Furious 9 UHD Question
Based off the given information you provided it’s safe to assume those two large files are the film. The larger being the Director’s Cut. That's kind of what I guessed. I went through all of the files, just scanning through them with JRiver Media Center. Many of the smaller files were special featu...
