Re: The Batman Bluray says its 720p

So I've been away from these forums for a while and only saw this question today. I apologize for the long delay in responding. Short answer -- yes, after changing the custom crop settings, you may have to press the up arrow button next to the Width field, until the width reaches the maximum allowab...

Re: The Batman Bluray says its 720p

Best I can tell, Plex figures out whether to display "1080p" or "720p" based on the HORIZONTAL resolution, not the vertical. This is likely because of differing aspect ratios between various movies -- very wide aspect ratios would never register as "1080p" because their...

Re: Disney discs read errors on flawless discs

Even new out of the package, and even if you can't see anything when you examine the disc: 9 times out of 10, you need only clean the disc. You can try following the standard advice to wipe from center to edge with a soft cloth. But I've had the best success washing gently with water and dish soap, ...

Re: True Romance - Arrow release

Yeah, warm water and soap didn't help. And while I have four different blu-ray drives, only one of them can deal with 4K/UHD discs. So no spare to try.

Thanks for your comment... sounds like it's probably not a widespread issue with this pressing then.

Re: True Romance - Arrow release

Just a followup post to summarize what's happened and seek feedback from others with the same disc. The first time I cleaned the disc, I used the method recommended by the disc manufacturers -- clean with a soft, dry cloth, wiping from center to edge. As previously described, that didn't help. I tri...

Re: True Romance - Arrow release

Clean the disc Should've mentioned that in my first post. I did clean the disc as part of my troubleshooting. It didn't help at all. I tried several more times since I first posted, and on a couple of occasions the disc has loaded. Once it even gave me the full list of titles, after a lengthy and v...

True Romance - Arrow release

I picked up the Arrow release of True Romance on 4K UHD. But the latest version of MakeMKV is unable to import it. The first time I inserted the disc, it accepted it and showed the initial disc info. When I tried to load the list of titles, the drive made loud seeking noises, and a bunch of error me...

Re: Grainy Blu Ray Rips

I suspect this is in fact an issue with MakeMKV for Mac as I have found references in several other forums to this exact behavior for MakeMKV for Mac, which always get written off as "it's supposed to look grainy". I have ripped hundreds of movies on my Mac using MakeMKV -- and they all l...

Re: Wreck-It Ralph - which .mpls?

Folks, I am not seeing a difference with signage with the two versions. can you reference a comparison of time into the movie where the signage is different? Also, be careful, I heard that they can re-arrange the order of scenes in the mutliple version MPLS file. Can someone conform this for me? I ...

Re: Wreck-It Ralph - which .mpls?

I don't recall which one I picked, but if this disc is like other recent Disney releases, the only difference between the two is that one has signage (within the movie) in English, and the other in a different language (most likely Spanish).

Re: Rip Speed never exceeds 2.0X - trial limitation?

This certainly has nothing to do with trial vs. paid. Others have noticed this as well, and it seems to happen most often with Pioneer drives that are capable of ripping much faster than 2.0X. IIRC, it's some kind of weird issue between MakeMKV and certain Pioneer drives. Windows users reported the ...

Re: Problem with all Blu rays.

Also, what are some recommended (under $100) internal drives I should be looking at, in case I want to go there? Maybe I should be looking at something OEM, that doesn't need added software. You may be interested in the discussion on this thread. It starts out about the Pioneer 206, but talks about...

Re: Pioneer BDR-206DBK Optical Drive - Anyone else use it?

I have since taken the Pioneer out of service and it now resides in a storage closet. A total waste of close to $300.00! Probably needs a firmware update, but there is no way to do this with a Mac. It's unlikely to need a firmware update. Far more likely is that it's malfunctioning, and requires re...

Re: skipping/jumping chapters. please help

so basically find the title with the right running time and that's it? Not necessarily. It is possible for a title to have the correct running time but still be the wrong title. Look for the correct title number and then confirm the running time matches. In the example linked above (for the U.S. re...
