Re: Problem with all Blu rays.

Tried it again, after 20 minutes of rip, then all halted for 4 hours. :?: The delays I was referring to are on the order of 10 seconds up to a couple minutes at most. Seems like this might be a hardware problem, given that you haven't been able to rip a single blu-ray. If you have access to another...

Re: skipping/jumping chapters. please help

Liam,

Don't know if you noticed, but my post with guidance on doing this and a link to the AVS forum has shown up finally. (Scroll up to find it.) Also, it looks like Smithcraft had a post show up as well covering the same topic.

Good luck,
Dave

Vilago, I PM'd you with a new link. Didn't post it here because forum posts with links in them are delayed until a moderator can approve them.

Re: "Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR" for Pirates of the Caribbean

Thanks for your answer. As i said above: The discs looks fine and plays perfectly as well... Only makeMKV has problems with it Playing well in a regular blu-ray player does not mean the disc isn't dirty, scratched or defective. A regular blu-ray player can 'ignore' minor defects in the disc and con...

Re: "Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR" for Pirates of the Caribbean

[Answer copied/pasted from another recent thread.] These are all possible explanations: 1. Dirty disc. Clean carefully and try again. 2. Scratched/damaged/defective disc. Exchange for a new disc. 3. Dirty, damaged or misaligned blu-ray drive. Try a different drive. NOTE: Due to the index of refracti...

Re: Problem with all Blu rays.

I don't know if this is what's happening to you, but it's a possibility. When blu-rays use seamless branching, the speed of the rip will vary during the rip. It will start at a particular speed, then ramp up. When it hits a branch point, it will slow down considerably and (in some cases) drop to 0x....

Re: list of source files?

Liam,

I posted some guidance on the other thread, but the post is (once again) being held until a moderator can approve it, because it contains a link. Eventually you'll see my reply on your skipping/jumping chapters thread.

Re: skipping/jumping chapters. please help

Not sure if there's a different method, but here's one way to get the info you need. Go to the AVS forum and find the Unofficial Blu-ray Audio and Video Specifications Thread. Once you've found it, bookmark it. The AVS forum allows you to do a search within a thread, so once there, do a search for t...

Re: Hardware or software problem?

It's a bit odd that a driver problem would cause an uncorrectable medium error, but I'm glad it worked out for you.

Re: Hardware or software problem?

Can someone tell me what this means? Is there a problem with the drive, the software or the disc itself? It has happened a couple of times on other discs. These are all possible explanations: 1. Dirty disc. Clean carefully and try again. 2. Scratched/damaged/defective disc. Exchange for a new disc....

Re: skipping/jumping chapters. please help

I believe Disney also does this, or something similar. When Disney and Pixar do this, I don't think it's meant as a copy deterrent. It's usually only two or three titles, and each title is the complete movie, with all scenes in the correct order. The reason for multiple titles is usually that they ...

Re: skipping/jumping chapters. please help

It may help if you could list the specific films this is happening on. There are a few movies, mostly big blockbuster types, that employ an annoying kind of copy-deterrent structure. What they do is create several (could be dozens) of different titles using seamless branching. Only one of the titles...

Re: Judder/studder in blu ray rips

The test I proposed is pretty simple. Download the re-encoded version I made and try it on your WDtv. That file HAS been re-encoded to a smaller average and peak bit rate. Which still doesn't rule out possible positive side-effects of the remuxing process. In his first post on this thread, Vilago s...

Re: Judder/studder in blu ray rips

Vilago, I made a reply to Chetwood's post but it hasn't shown up yet. (It's waiting for a moderator to approve it because it included a link.) Basically I'm guessing that the WDtv live may have problems with the bit rate when it's pulling a video stream out of an MKV container. (I had noticed your c...

E-mail with link to file sent. I used filedropper because I don't have accounts at dropbox or mediafire.
