Re: (Asmcom:) Pioneer UHD 4K Drives, MakeMKV Discounted Software £39.99, Worldwide Service, Excellent Service!!!
Hi, The drives are shipped from the UK, right? Asmcom is based in Ireland. They are shipped from Nothern Ireland which is basically UK but with the special status of it no duty applies for shipments to the EU. Hi, Thanks to both for the info that I'm trying to get by email for the last month. I alr...

Re: Is my Verbatim 43888 flashable
I thought you meant you tried to play the backup. Why rip it then try to play the disc? That's silly. Don't bother with disc playback, you will ruin your drive's lasers faster. Yes, MakeMKV does use Java and probably VLC too. I don't use VLC so couldn't say for sure. C'mon Marty, i'm noob but not t...

Re: Is my Verbatim 43888 flashable
If you used the disc backup function to backup the entire disc, you must ensure the decrypt box is checked. enable integration in makemkv for direct disc playback Hum, not sure what you mean about that. I made a backup/rip without any issue but then I wanted to try to play the BR (not the MK...

Re: Is my Verbatim 43888 flashable
Hi, I also bought a Verbatim 43888, flashed without any errors and was able to rip an entire BR (FullHD; not UHD) but when i try to open it using Pot Play or VLC, it doesn't work. If it matters, i have a paid license for MakeMKV. I saw something about public keydb but i'm too noob to know how to pro...

Re: What is the deal with the KEY?
Pure speculation, but another thing to consider as to what may be the issue here is that makeMKV's server is apparently in Russia according to this post... https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15289#:~:text=Re:%20MakeMKV%20flagged%20by%20VirusTotal&text=This%20happens%20from%20time%2...

Re: What is the deal with the KEY?
The thing is, none of us really know anything about why the beta key hasn't been updated, why Mike or a moderator hasn't posted any answers to this, or why the permanent keys aren't being issued after purchase recently after July 31 2025. Sadly, that leads to a lot of confusion, anger, conjecture a...

Re: What is the deal with the KEY?
There are a couple of moderators. They should have been notified about it.Sphinx wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 3:02 pmIf anybody knows anything for certain, they're not talking. I speculate that speculation is all we have at the moment.
This sort of thing isn't all that unusual for software primarily developed by a single person, especially when that software is available free or mostly free. Life happens at you, you get overcome by events. You fall and break your wrist, your significant other leaves you, your dad dies, or heck, you just get hit by a bad spell of depression... but regardless of the cause, you're unable to maintain the project for a while.EICP958 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 2:42 pmWe are all "lost", the moderators don't explain or don't know too, purchases are not working, refunds being made automatically... So, even if it starts to work again, how can we be confident that it won't happen again?
Don't get me wrong, MakeMKV is a great sw, but all this situation, and the lack of any information, it's not all that good.
And yeah, it's ideal if you have a backup person, but that requires some combination of money, project management skills, and social networking that is not available or just not interesting to a lot of developers. We're an insular bunch. 😅

Re: What is the deal with the KEY?
There's no one that can tell us something about what's happening (not speculate) with beta keys and the purchase of the lifetime key??? We are all "lost", the moderators don't explain or don't know too, purchases are not working, refunds being made automatically... So, even if it starts to...

Re: What is the deal with the KEY?
Hi, Honestly, i never bought the key since i barely have DVDs left to rip and since i'm from Europe, the price is too high. Like others, i installed now the newer version (i haven't used MakeMKV for 2 months) and it always says that the application version is too old... Also, we're now on 6th August...

Re: Website Live
At Last!!! The website is now live. Please be patient as there might be a few bugs, but nothing that can't be sorted. https://shop.uhdfriendlydrives.co.uk Hi, What do you recommend just for ripping DVD/BR (not going to burn BR) using MakeMKV, and possibly DVDFab (if any issue appears with MakeMKV),...

Re: (Asmcom:) Pioneer UHD 4K Drives, Cheap Shipping, Worldwide Service, Excellent Service!!!
As I said in those links, it'll probably come with a BU40N these days and that's not a terrible drive that you can flash yourself. If you've only got the money for one drive and you really want a Pioneer and you're in the UK, waiting for Asmcom's store to open is perhaps the way to go. If you don't...

Re: (Asmcom:) Pioneer UHD 4K Drives, Cheap Shipping, Worldwide Service, Excellent Service!!!
So, Verbatim 43888 should be a good choice (I won't burn BRs) if it comes with a Pioneer? Buying on Amazon we can always return it. As I said in those links, it'll probably come with a BU40N these days and that's not a terrible drive that you can flash yourself. If you've only got the money for one...
