Re: 50% success rate with older drive
The result looked basically brand new to my eyes. And voila - MakeMKV read and ripped with no errors. Good work; I'm genuinely impressed by your effort and success! So far, my problem disks have been ones that were relatively inexpensive to replace via eBay, but your approach is definitely somethin...

Re: Spotting Pirated Content
According to Keepa, Amazon hasn't been selling those first two titles ( Red Dwarf and Are You Being Served Again? ), at least not for years, so I suspect you got them from third-party sellers. I've bought hundreds of DVDs and Blu-Rays from Amazon over the years, both movies and television shows, and...

Re: Region Setting of Drive does not match region of disc
It sounds like your optical drive is DRM locked into a region that's different from the disk's region. I don't know if new drives still do this because it's been a long time since I last bought an optical drive I didn't flash. The last I knew of, though, there was a counter that was incremented each...

Re: Multiple Mkv files for Plex
No, Plex won't use the menu file at all, so you should just delete it. Plex looks at what's included in the container (MKV file in this case) to determine what audio tracks are available. In all likelihood, both audio tracks are included in the main feature's MKV file, in which case Plex will detect...

Re: 50% success rate with older drive
Because they all play in the player I had high hopes that all could be ripped. I know the feeling. It's frustrating and disappointing to have a disk that will play but can't be ripped. Apparently, a player can and will skip over problematic areas, potentially without the viewer even realizing it, b...

Re: Are there any LibreDrive enabled drives straight from the factory?
Is it true that all new drives now come from the factory with LibreDrive blocked so that unless you find a used one or buy off a member here that has old stock you are completely out of luck? No, that's not the case; there are new drives you can flash still being sold by retailers. Others may be ab...

Re: The Ten Commandments uhd rip
This is completely unrelated, and not a question but the Ten Commandments movie rip is insanely Huge 93.5 gigabytes To add to what dcoke already wrote, the size isn't really surprising. Many of my rips of 90- to 120-minute movie 2K disks are in the neighborhood of 25-30GB, so for a 220-minute movie...

Re: Newbie's Question About DVD Resolution
I recently acquired a multi-season DVD box of a TV series that initially aired in HD, but I was saddened to see that the episodes only have 480p resolution. Unsurprisingly, they don't look good on my 4K TV. Yeah, it's a disappointment when a show you love is only available on DVD, but as others hav...

Re: National treasure rip not working
You could try gently cleaning the disc. If cleaning the disc doesn't work, trying the disc in a different drive might help. I tryed that and it didn’t work and I am too broke to get another drive ngl is there a way to make it work on the one I have I doubt it if you've already cleaned it and made m...

Re: Shrek screwed up my drives?
What specific drive model is it what firmware did you flash it with? Did you rip some disks from a different region from your usual one and maybe trigger the DRM region lockout?

Re: DVDFab/MacTheRipper Error
I got this same error when I tried to backup my set of the Sanctuary TV series. I bought it on Amazon in August of 2024. A distinction that sometimes seems to get lost in these discussions is whether you bought it from Amazon or through Amazon (i.e., from a third-party seller). I'd be surprised if ...

Re: The Beverly Hillbillies (Season 2)
First off, thanks to video4u for the reply. This was one of my earlier efforts, and I hadn't considered using VLC or Handbrake. I put this on the back burner until recently but came back to it and was eventually successful. To be honest, the version of VLC I have doesn't seem to do well with ripping...
