Re: 5.25" drive mounting
I bought that drive before I understood redundancy, but even assuming a pessimistic 250,000-hour MTTF (10× worse than spec), dual-drive failure on the same day would statistically take over 22,000 years. Even RAID5 (1 parity drive in a 3-drive setup) gives ~3,000 years MTTDL. That’s good enough for ...

Re: 5.25" drive mounting
I can recommend bequiet. This case has even 2 5,25" drive bays. This the one I got. https://www.bequiet.com/en/case/937 Can those top two rectangular bits be used to move the top HDD up and have a longer GPU? I have a 300mm GPU and I also need room for four HDDs. Get yourself a 5,25" adap...

Re: 5.25" drive mounting
Hi all, I'm struggling to find a modern PC case that supports a 5.25" drive—adding that filter drops PCPartPicker results from 2000+ to just a handful. Has anyone done a DIY mount inside the case using existing fan mounts or similar? Are there any kits or brackets that adapt 120mm fan holes to...

Re: Backup firmware before flashing
Okay I've taken the plunge and flashed `BDR-S12JBK` firmware to my Pioneer drive. It worked. I am currently making my first legitimate backup of a brand new (unopened) UHD Blu-Ray. Will I lose any other functionality that I might need in the future? Elapsed: 24 of 133 minutes *fingers crossed*: no r...

Backup firmware before flashing
Subject: Backing up Pioneer Firmware Before Flashing Hi everyone, I’m looking to back up my Pioneer drive’s firmware before flashing it with Blackened2687's flasher. Is there a way to set a launch/startup flag for this? Alternatively, I know that (older) DVRFlash can't flash my Pioneer drive. Howeve...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2024
Does the Hardware Type (or Hardware Rev) e.g., SAT 8601 or SAT 8800 remain the same after flashing? Is that a reading from a chip at the hardware level?
How can I know for sure its a fake?
Does this mean it also probably wasn't really manufactured this year?

Confusion Over Drive Firmware on New BDR-212V
Subject: Confusion Over Drive Firmware on New BDR-212V Hi, I purchased a new BDR-212V from Amazon Warehouse on Sunday, knowing it was a returned item. According to Amazon, it was returned within 30 days, and the manufacturing date (2024) aligns with this timeline. I installed the drive into a 5.2...

Re: BDR-212V vs Verbatim 43888 or maybe BDR-S11JBK / BDR-211EBK
Update: I'm back to considering the BDR-212V vs Verbatim 43888 for UHD (due to scammy Chinese sellers).

BDR-212V vs Verbatim 43888
Hi, BDR-212V (Digital Pioneer / VinPower Digital): I’ve read this can be flashed for UHD, but it’s not explicitly listed in the pinned/ultimate guides. Is it likely to be more reliable for reading UHD than the ASUS BW-16D1HT and more durable than the slimline Verbatim 43888 (BDR-UD04)? Since it has ...
