Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026

Honest question, with the supported drives being harder and harder to find, is anyone going to crack this nut for new drives or create something new that works? Or is this hobby going to slowly die as people's drives die? I've been trying to find a backup drive in case another one dies but can ...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026

I bought a BP50NB40 NB50 based on this guide and it doesn't look like it'll work, SDFtool Flasher gives me an error that it doesn't have the correct platform (MT1959).

Are there recent recommendations for drives that are available in the US and known to work? I took a couple weeks to order this ...

Re: 4K/UHD Buffalo 5 1/4" USB w/LG drives for sale, new, pre-flashed & tested!

Hello!

These are retail, NiB & include power cable & USB cable (as do all 5 1/4" USB drives). Computer end of the USB cable is USB-A. It's a USB 3.0 cables, but USB 2.0 vs. USB 3.x doesn't really matter for ripping - USB 2.0 is faster than any drive can rip.

For more details or questions, please ...

Re: Looking for new flashed UHD ripping drive in USA

Hello!

ASUS does not make drives. They sell ASUS branded drives with Pioneer or LG mechanisms inside. Pioneer stopped making consumer optical drives (computer use) January, 2025 & sold the business. Reports have it that LG stopped manufacturing consumer optical drives in November, 2025. Unless you ...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026

Hi guys,

Just bought an OWC Mercury Pro and according to this it needs modification to work? Also is it compatible with a Pioneer 211M 1.54 firmware? Thanks

The OWC chassis doesn't care about the drive Mfg or firmware.

The "modification" is mechanical. When you put the longer (Pioneer ...

Re: Looking for a Pioneer 4K drive

At least a couple of threads right here in this sub-forum, of people selling units w/Pioneer drives, in stock. Did you contact any of them?

I should have a slim-line unit w/Pioneer drive arriving early next week. If you are interested, send an e-mail to the address in my signature & mention your ...

Hello!

Sorry for the delay in replying to your e-mail - it went to my Junk folder. Thanks for the post here - it reminded me to check my Junk folder.

I still have drives available. I replied to your e-mail with details.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

All non-UHD drives flashed for UHD might say that they are BEE enabled but they "lie". The chip to do so is missing.

This 211 should be used internally. If you want to rule out the root cause you should get a Benfei USB -> SATA adapter like this. If it works with that your enclosures don't ...

Re: looking for flashed 5.25" usb 3

You won't find any drive that can rip at 12x. Generally you'll never see more than 4-6x, depending on number of layers on the disc, Mfg of drive mechanism & condition of the disc.

USB 2.0 vs. USB 3.0 doesn't matter for ripping - 2.0 is faster than any drive can rip.

That being said, the two 5 1/4 ...
