After flashing DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin into the burner, I lost the ability to read and burn BD-R XL discs (I tried BD-R XL 100 GB made by Verbatim). The drive would not recognize the BD-R XL disc as an empty disc, and would report it as incompatible. I was, however, able to burn BD-R and BD-RE discs...

What#s your issue with that? Oh I though the dumps contained the complete firmware, and could be reflashed into the device if needed. I don't currently have an issue with the firmware I flashed. I just wanted to have a plan B in case issues appeared later. I'm trying to be cautious, so I wanted to ...

Can you please elaborate why you think they are useless? My use case is to flash them back if I need to restore the device to its manufacturer state for whatever reason (e.g., investigating an issue, warranty repair, selling the device).
