Re: Archgon HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N Errors
does it identify as MT1959 platform in the flashing tool?
If not there might be an issue with the USB to SlimSata interface of the drive's casing:

Re: HP BDRE BU40N Revision BW43: which firmware from the firmwarepack should i flash to?
thanks,
i know that i don't have to break the case to open it.
in the meanwhile i bought a 7-Pin SATA to Slim-SATA cable. something similar to this:
https://www.delock.de/produkt/84790/merkmale.html
I connected my drive directly to the mainboard an was able to flash it.

"simulate connected 3d display" in some ripping softwares?
hi all, not a MakeMKW specific question: in Xreveal (and i think in AnyDVD as well) there is this " simulate connected 3d display " option in the settings. Can't find anything similar in MakeMKV Does anyone have an idea what this option is about and if one should check it or leave it unche...

does it make any difference whether Blu-Rays are backed up with libredrive enabled drives or non-libredrive drives?
hi all,
as i write in the title i was wondering if it usually makes any difference whether a you back up your Blu-Ray discs with a drive that is libredrive-enabled or one that is not.
Are backups made with a libredrive-drive in any way more accurate?
thanks in advance

Re: are there any BU40N drives that are really not MT1959 platform?
Update: ...maaaan, this sucks. I got me a "SATA III to SLIM SATA" cable and connected the drive directly to the mainboard's SATA port. Now at least it shows up as MT1959 platform in SDFtool Flasher.exe Then i tried to flash it with "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.04-NM00500-212005061142.bin&q...

Re: Backed up BD is SMALLER than the original?

The STREAM folder shows apprx. 35 GB On the other hand Windows Explorer shows the disc size as 46 GB and the STREAM folder...

Re: are there any BU40N drives that are really not MT1959 platform?
Back then you received the advice to go for another enclosure or another SATA-USB adapter including a mini SATA - SATA adapter. So you didn't follow this advice it looks like. thanks and well, actually the advice for a mini-SATA - SATA adapter was my own advice. Eventually i decided to try another ...

are there any BU40N drives that are really not MT1959 platform?
hi all, i was just wondering if there are any BU40N drives (independently of which manufacturer is labelled on it) which actually are not MT1959 platform. I'm asking because i have one from HP (which i built into an enclosure) which shows up as "not MT1959 platform" in SDF Tool flasher. No...

Re: HP BDRE BU40N Revision BW43: which firmware from the firmwarepack should i flash to?
thanks
is there any reason why someone would want an adapter with a power supply?
Afaik usually USB3 should be able to supply the drive with enough power.
