Hmmmm, thanks for the clarification - in that case I guess I'm already using it in direct mode, and it's not working.

I'll try it in OS mode and see if that helps (although apparently it's slower).

Otherwise I might have to get a different drive....

For the record, I have exactly the same issue, although I've just bought the drive, and boht of the first 2 movies I tried to process wouldn't mount. I'm using Snow Leopard on a Macbook Pro 13.3 Any hints/tips gratefully received, otherwise this drive's gonna be an expensive paperweight... Cheers Pete
