I've already read this post before; it doesn't explain how some drives can read faster than their supposedly maximum speed according to their technical specifications.

MakeMKV ripping faster than the drive's specifications
Hello, I am very confused. I have a bunch of 8x DVD drives, like the HP DS-8A8SH121C-H. But MakeMKV is ripping super fast, at 16x: https://i.ibb.co/fFfbN13/Capture-d-e-cran-2024-10-06-a-16-46-08.jpg This is a double-layer DVD. How is this possible? For this drive, the specs are: DVD Family: Write : ...

Re: No copy protection detected even though the DVD box says there is one
I think I added the information too late in my previous message, but these sets were legitimately bought in hypermarkets, and they are all from the same "publisher" (TF1 Video / CBS DVD). I just noticed that there is a Macrovision logo on the boxes. The set of my screenshot was commerciali...

Re: No copy protection detected even though the DVD box says there is one

Your picture says it's the eight disc in the set. Is it maybe a bonus disc? Maybe they didn't thought the bonus disc alone wouldn't need...

No copy protection detected even though the DVD box says there is one
Hello! I noticed something interesting. I have some PAL 2 DVDs, especially those from TF1 Videos / CBS DVD, where it says on the box "These DVDs have copy protection.", but when I open them with MakeMKV, no copy protection technology is detected. On top of that, these disks are very fast t...

Re: ILLEGAL REQUEST:READ OF SCRAMBLED SECTOR...
I have this error too on a lot of DVDs, no matter the drive I put them in. It is always at offset 1048576 or 589824.
However, ripping the disc works just fine.
Since everything is working correctly, I just ignore those errors.
