Re: Blu-ray rip failure with no errors
I get suspicious whenever I see this line with a commercial BD: 003305:0000 AACS directory not present, assuming unencrypted disc It's possible the disk has damage to it, which is why the scan takes forever. Mayhaps someone else has the same title, so we can figure out whether or not this is standar...

Re: Where to download older versions of MakeMKV?
https://makemkv.com/download/old/ Permanent keys make older versions work, too. A lot of Macs have issues with MacOS grabbing the drive, and not letting unapproved apps access them. The newer the version of MacOS, the more likely this is to happen. Are you getting any messages from the OS about Make...

Re: Having issues updating key
The key you posted is NOT the current key found in the message MakeMKV is free while in beta, so it won't work past July 31, 2025. Try it with the current key.

Re: MKB v82 - ぼくのお日さま (LG WH16NS40)
There is no attachment. Probably, it exceeds the 4.0MB limit, which means you'll have to post it on a different site. The upload that MakeMKV uses is one you email to svq@makemkv.com , as Mike does not visit the forum often enough to handle them being posted here. However, the keydb people can, if i...

Re: tar: This does not look like a tar archive
It isn't a TAR until you remove the gzip encoding that makes it smaller. Kind of like zip, but it isn't.
First extract the TAR file from the tar.gz file (gunzip makemkv-bin-1.18.1.tar.gz) then you can use TAR to break the files out.

Re: AACS V82 Blu-ray Disc dump
Most likely, your dump file exceeded the board's 4.0gb limit, as it isn't attached. You need to email that dump to svq@makemkv.com for inclusion in MakeMKV. That's how it gets into the main program. To get it into the keydb database, you need to post it somewhere that you can share files, and then p...

State of the forum
This forum is owned and operated by Mike Admin to support MakeMKV. Now, Mike can't be around all the time, so he has set up a couple of people (myself included) to manage the forum and keep riff-raff off that are trying to fool people into compromising their accounts across internet, or trying to hi...

Re: AACS v82 Blu-ray Disc dump submission
The forum limit is when the file being uploaded exceeds 4.0MB, but that should not affect uploads to Mike for inclusion in MakeMKV, because those are ALWAYS supposed to be sent via email to svq@makemkv.com . When you want to send them for inclusion in the keydb database, though, those have been post...

Re: Normality returns: An unrelated question
Are you assuming the V at the end is for "5", and not part of "MKV" (the file format)?

Re: 1.18.1-Win too old?
Usually means you're using an expired key - the one included IN the file expired last month, and you need to use the one in this message to update it. When you have a permanent key, you shouldn't see this again. Back before MakeMKV did dynamic updates for things like keys, changing the program out p...

Re: Is Makemkv no longer working.
If you registered prior to July 31, 2025, MakeMKV works just fine. If you are still using the beta key to run it without registering, the last beta key expired July 31, 2025, and no new beta key or permanent key has been available since then. If you are still using the beta key, you must set your sy...

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean region 2
It depends on your drive. Most modern drives, MakeMKV can read out-of-region disks just fine. Especially Bluray and UHD. DVD is the problematic disk.

Re: 177 Versions On One Disc!?
Sounds like Lionsgate disks, with dozens to hundreds of false entries to throw you off.
Generally speaking, MakeMKV can find the correct copy and put it first in the list; sometimes, though, you have to sort thru them and ignore any copy that doesn't match the runtime stated.

As of when you posted your message, there were over two dozen "can't run because of license message threads active on the forum. Do you think yours will fix the often-reported issue?
