Throwing a guess out here, given that the rip failed fairly deep into the disk, that the drive powered down. This happens fairly often with USB-powered drives when they start going very fast (consuming lots of electricity).

Guessing that being built over 4 years before UHD was invented affects the compatibility...

That drive was built 4+ years before UHD was created. Doubtful it would be able to do it.

Did you submit the dump file to svq@makemkv.com for a key to be generated?

I've used Lemon Pledge (actually more often equivalent store brands) a LOT on old DVDs. It fills in scratches well enough to get a rip done.

Not so effective on BDs, though.

That error can occur if your drive has a problem switching to "side 2", so it can read the first "side", but has problems when it switches tracks.

Is there a reason that the main topics that cover recommendations for drives do not suit you? Is there something about your circumstances that is unique, that people would need to know?

If you were able to rip them before but can't now, it's possible that the key has been changed or removed by MakeMKV in recent updates. Check if there's a new update and update it.
