Re: I was ripping, and now MakeMKV can't find any usable optical drives
Does it do the same thing with a DVD (different laser)?

Re: Newbie looking for a new drive...
I've just updated the topic at the HEAD OF THIS FORUM to use "2024" instead of 2023 in its title, since people can't seem to find it. It's now " Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2024 " to be more obvious. The first message explains all the details you've asked about, an...

Re: I was ripping, and now MakeMKV can't find any usable optical drives
The drive isn't being detected when MakeMKV asks about all drives. Sometimes, the operating system takes control of the drive and won't release it; other times, it just isn't detected for some reason. If you attach it via USB, try unplugging it and plugging it back in (best if it powers off during t...

Re: Ripping HD DVD on Mac
The HK failure message indicates that your system cannot contact the server to get keys for UHD disks. That's one thing to deal with. There are a copy of topics that discuss that here. The corrupt/invalid message usually indicates that something is interfering with reading the disk, which could be d...

Re: Can't get Makemkv to run
Do you have a disk in your drive while trying this? Your drive must be empty for the key to register, then you have to restart MakeMKV to make sure it was read.

Re: Multiple makemkvcon instances
I have not tested this as "just copies of makemkvcon", but running multiple copies of MakeMKV, each assigned to deal with a separate drive, works find. I've run up to three at a time on one machine, and regularly operate two. Nothing special required, but, to keep the instances from interf...

Re: Pioneer BDR-X13 Usb
Without knowing more about the drive, the answer is, "Donno".
What firmware does it have installed on it? Any firmware date on or after 12/22/2022 is blocked from delivering the drives capabilities to non-approved software, and blocked from accepting other firmware.

Re: Ripping stuck at 13/15/18 Mb
Do you have plenty of free space? Sounds like what happens when you're running low, and the rip fills up the drive.
Without logs to see what's happening, though, that's just a guess.

Disney-related companies use 800 for English, and 801 or 802 for Spanish/French. Mainly has to do with signs and the titles/trailers.

Re: Makemkv on Win XP
As stated, it's SUPPOSED to work on XP. And a number of us think Win10/11 are built to make XP look secure. :) Not everyone can easily upgrade. There is a LOT of hardware out there that will be rejected by later versions of Windows. I could, in theory, upgrade this machine past Win7, but it would ca...

Re: Windows and Mac Fatal Error
With your install, did you pull the key from the message MakeMKV is free while in beta and put it in, or did you ass-u-me that the key in the months-old archive was still current? Remembering to not have a disk in the drive when installing the new key.

Re: Can the Samsung SE-506 or the LG BP40NS20 be flashed/modified to be able to rip UHD Blu-rays?
LibreDrive does not guarantee UHD, and a drive built before UHD was around is highly unlikely to support it just because the drive can do LibreDrive.
UHD came out in 2015, so any drive built before that is unlikely to handle it. The LG drive definitely won't, because the chip can't do it.

Re: Force rip to restart
Trying to figure out how you got MakeMKV to restart a rip, given that it will read a disk from the beginning each time you insert it. ... ... ... Nope, not coming up with a way. If you eject the disk, MakeMKV assumes that any new disk needs to be read from the start. If you've figured out how to mak...

A search for "WH14NS40" here finds over 1500 messages where it is mentioned, with a variety of opinions and information, including comments from "had the drive 2 months and it died", to "works great now". You might want to just do a search and see what others (some of w...
