Re: My Disc Drive no longer reads discs - "No Disc"

Host key revocation applies to the key the "player" software uses. MakeMKV's key is different than AnyDVD's, so even if AnyDVD was revoked, MakeMKV's should still work.

But a revoked host key should not result in "no disk".

Re: Burned movie from Bluray has stutter when flashes occur on screen

MakeMKV doesn't care about the bitrate. It's your playback software that cares. Have you tried different players? Both VLC and Kodi are available for a wide variety of hardware, and are pretty good at dealing with high-bandwidth video, unless the hardware is slow.

Re: Does any Blu Ray drive work?

Different answers for different criteria. Yes, MakeMKV will work for regular BDs with just about any major-brand BD player, but some are more "future proof" than others. A BD drive that has a LibreDrive-compatible firmware will be less susceptible to player key revocation and any complaint...

Re: Burned movie from Bluray has stutter when flashes occur on screen

The main thing to understand is how video is "shrunk". Except in the case of raw video from a camera, you do not have complete, individual pictures for video stream. Ignoring the official terminology, you have an "initial frame" that is complete, followed a series of "differ...

Re: I created a site to help people know what titles to rip from discs

Using WebAssembly will give a number of people pause, in and of itself. The security-inclined among us have it disabled. It does NOT have a good reputation.

Re: Disc rips perfectly, but has playback issues

Most likely the disk has areas that are hard to read, but do eventually decode. Playback falters while the drive is trying to read it in "real time".

When playing the MKV, do you have glitches, too, or just when doing a real-time playback?

Re: Doubts about Intel processors compatibility with LGWH16NS60

Ripping UHDs isn't processor-dependent. There are people ripping with ARM-based machines, including the new M1 Macs and Raspberry Pi boards. Playback with "Certified UHD software", such as PowerDVD, is going to enforce the "certified UHD hardware" requirements. Other H.265-compli...

Re: Burned movie from Bluray has stutter when flashes occur on screen

Flashes are generally spots where the encoded bit stream has to toss out all data and load a new frame "from scratch". This is a lot of bandwidth, and slow decoders or limited-bandwidth transport mechanisms can cause decoder issues.

What player? Local or network media?

Re: 13 titles saved into 13 mkv files

mkvmerge, APPEND files, rather than just combine them. You would still have to create a chapter marker track.

You can also have ffmpeg combine them sequentially, which is a better solution if the video and audio tracks are not consistent in all of the videos.

Did you also email it to svq@makemkv.com so it can be processed? Only posting it here means someone else has to download it and email it.

Re: CD/DVD has little to no scratches but it still won't play or be recognized by my laptop. What could be the problem?

Is it a DVD with movies on it, or actually created as a Digital Video Disk (playable in a DVD player)? What errors are you getting? If you get "No disk", the drive cannot find a recognizable format on it. I haven't done the "leave in sunlight a lot" treatment, but remember that r...

Re: Iron Man 2 and SHIELD Data Vault

Probably a subtitle track on the movie. That's how a lot of "fun facts!" features are handled.

Remember that subtitles on DVDs, BDs, and UHDs are PICTURES, not text, so they can do a lot.
