Re: Intermittent "Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST"

Just FYI Mike - I ran into this exact same problem - but the FAQ page is not working.. HTTP error 500 Yeah, he posted that 11 years ago, but has missed the fact that when he moved the site to SSL, a LOT of stuff didn't move with it. So, we're still waiting for that to be fixed. Forum came first, bu...

Re: Incredibles 2. What's the correct one

It varies with the title. Most of the time, both the beginning and ending have signage in a given language. And some scenes do, too.

svq@makemkv.com

Send the TGZ file generated via email, if it has not already been submitted (that's what the 4 characters at the end tell you).

Re: Incredibles 2. What's the correct one

What language do you want?

The three choices have to do with signs and text in the video. 00800 is "english". 00801 and 00802 are "spanish" and "french" (maybe the other way) in most distribution.

Oh, wait - that's for the BD version. First one on DVD is English.

MKB_v7_The_Hunt_For_Red_October_3D48.tgz
Send this file to svq@makemkv.com, then check periodically (usually a couple of days) with MakeMKV to see if it's been processed yet.

MakeMKV will create a file to get the update, but it does not send it without your permission (i.e., it makes you do it).

Re: Ripping a DVD with forced subtitles

It's more a case of finding when you do NOT have forced subtitles. Disks such as Bleach have one subtitle track, which is "all subtitles", with nothing flagged. What to see what that sign said in English? Turn on subtitles and watch EVERYTHING be translated. Sometimes, disks will have &quo...

Re: Do I need to select both layers when ripping a blue ray?

Multiple possibilities. Mainly, you've got a disk with several copies of the movie, as in a Disney disk that has English, Spanish, and French (or German, or ???) copies of the movie, having just the scenes where the language on signs or announcements doesn't match the selected audio. These will usua...

Re: How do you handle multiple Chinese subtitles?

MakeMKV will usually offer to create TWO subtitle tracks for each one in the source. The first is "everything in track XX", the second being "only subtitles tagged as FORCED from track XX". The first is simply a copy of the given track; the second will USUALLY end up empty and be...

Re: Cannot Download for Mac

As of 11:25 Central time on 11/29, I'm able to download 1.17.2 for both Mac and Windows through that page, so it may be caching issues. Of course, that doesn't help if you're waiting for something newer than 1.17.2, since it hasn't changed yet. https://www.makemkv.com/download/old/ works for pulling...

Yes, occasionally the owner of the forum is late with the payment to the ISP. They shut the forum down rather suddenly when that happens.

Re: Too many hash check errors in brand new drive that works on other files

Soft cloth, "Windex"-type cleaner, and patience.

"Soft cloth" means something like a micro-fiber cloth with no scratchy stuff embedded in it.

Re: Delete Profiles?

It IS possible to delete some of the "default profiles", but they will return at the next update. They're part of one of the default files loaded by MakeMKV when it starts. Additional files, such as "FLACustom" in your example, are NOT automatically overwritten, as they are not s...

Re: John Wick 3

Start with the title length - the box will say how long the movie is. Anything more than a few seconds difference is NOT what you want. There will (usually) be a topic here that lists the length of the movie and which title comes up as right, but that's more often for BD and UHD nowadays than DVD. T...

Re: Error 'Scsi error

When the drive tried to access part of the disk, it encountered an error. In particular, it would seem that it did not "see" the sector it was looking for. A disk cleaning is the most likely response.

Re: John Wick 3

That's because you haven't found the "correct" title yet. The DVD has about a dozen (more on BD and UHD).

Only one of the titles is correct. A couple will be the right length, but the chapter order is screwed up on all but one.
