Re: Adding different subtitle

You realize that, if you purchase something from Microsoft "to support the author" of a program the author gives for free, you are supporting Microsoft, rather than the author?

Re: How long does it take to receive the license key?

In most cases, the key should arrive as fast as your email service processes messages. That is, most likely within a few minutes. It is probable that any delay beyond that is part of your filtering, i.e., if your email is filtered for spam, it may have been treated as such and stuffed into a special...

MKBv82 is a case where you need the decryption key for EVERY DISK, which is why you can't arbitrarily decode them. Submitting your file to svc@makemkv.com is the official way, and sending a copy of the file to the keydb people is an alternative method.

Given that dozens of disks come out each week, knowing WHAT disk you're referring to would be helpful to anyone needing to know if their disk has been submitted.

Re: expert mode for makemkvcon?

Last release was a few weeks ago - the author, however, simply edits the post to put the new files up, so that they don't change linkage with each release.

Doing a search for "VERBATIM KIAB 43888" comes up with a bunch of hits... Why didn't you find any of them?

Re: 28 Years Later - says v82 is to new?

Yes, there is. Clicking the link in the program sends SOME information about the disk to MakeMKV's author, but sending the file that is generated (ending in .TGZ) provides more information. It's actually something that is built into the program to provide information on earlier disk formats, which I...

Re: Please don’t flame, newbie questions follow.

Your message is full of conflicting information. You say you want to back up your "4k dvds", but then say you will "never copy a 4K dvd". I guess you mean that you're never planning on WRITING a 4k disk, but that's kind of moot... You need a 4k-capable drive just to read them. As...

Chrome is also what I used, but... I cannot say how it has changed since they stopped supporting Win7. In Win7, I need only RIGHT-click on the "broken image" icon, and select "Open image in new tab", and it will display.

For what it is worth, I have an entry in my HOSTS file to decode the link for when I encounter a blocking DNS. It works most of the time, and I can comment it out (details in one of the previous topics) when I'm paranoid about it. :)

Giving some indication of the errors you are receiving would be helpful. It could just be a disk issue, or a connection issue. THOSE can't be fixed by anyone else, but you are assuming we know what you're seeing...

Some indication of what the actual error messages were would be helpful. What you describe could be a power issue (drive spinning too fast for available power), or a disk error.

Downloading latest HK to C:\Users\piero/.MakeMKV ... Automatic HK downloading is disabled or failed. This indicates that MakeMKV was unable to contact the server where the HK (Hash Key) database is stored, so it was unable to look up whether or not the disk you're loading is known or not. So, you'r...

Those warnings are probably because the site only supports HTTP and not HTTPS. Something I agree with - there are a LOT of sites that have no reason to spend hundreds of dollars or euros each year to keep HTTPS active, and every year, it gets MORE expensive. You either get "free" certific...
